To be fair to Live Wired he's not the only one to post such stupid (and patently un-true) runours as set-in-stone, gospel truth. However as he is the most negative poster on this board then he deserves plenty of ribbing.

It would be interesting to hear where he heard this rumour and why he was suitabily convinced by it to post it on here with such certainty.

As for contracts, they are not worth the paper they are written on. Makes much more business sense to sell a contracted player than a non-contracted player.

Let me get this right. A player out of contract, willingly signs a contract so his club can sell him for a transfer fee.

Surely the commercially sound soultion for Briers would have to allowed his contract to run down. Thus leaving, giving him free agent status and the additional bargaining power he would have afforded himself that is eaten into by a transfer fee.
