Quote: morleys_deckchair "Chase will never be on the same level as briers.... I'm sure lots of cas fans think he is the best player in the league.... But he isn't a patch on lee.'"

I've always liked Briers, from when he, played for us and when he moved, to when he has played for Wales.

However the above comment is nonesense. Briers has played plenty of years in a poor/average Warrington outfit, but just because he was playing in a side lacking the strength to compete did not make him poor, just like Lee playing in a side of stars does not make him the world number 1.

Same goes for chase, yes Warrington hammered Cas a few weeks back and he had a poor game by his standards, but I've seen that for many years when Saints and others have hammered Warrington.

Chase is a good player, as is Briers. But they are playing in completely different set ups with teams in different veins of form with different coaches.

As for Briers being MOS, only time will tell. There have been a few names knocking about and only a few days/weeks ago Monaghan was also a front runner. Just over half way through the season, Briers has come to the fore over the last 6 or so games in the eyes of the media. So plenty of games left for someone else to gain a bit of the limelight or become a media favourite.

Out of the Warrington outfit MM would seam to be in the lead for me, but Briers is not far off and he's playing with a smile on his face, which is a good sign for any halfback.

HOW CAN YOU BE IN POOR FORM , WHEN YOU'VE WON YOUR LAST 7 GAMES, FFS

I know some Wiganers have a reputation for being a bit lacking between the ears, but your thicker than a docker's butty. icon_frustrated.gif

Weve won games yes, but have been distinctly average and below Wigan standards in most of them, but then that is the sign of a champion team isnt it, winning but not playing well!

In our last 7 games;
Hull KR - Poor for 20 mins before and after half time and only played for half the game
Saints - Extremely poor for the first 40 minutes - Good for 10 at the start of the second half but then switched off again to let saints back into it - Realistically we played well for 20 minutes in that game and still won
Wakefield - Poor throughout - only the fact that wakefield were worse and couldnt score in a brothel that meant we came away with a win
Crusaders - Average throughout - didnt need to lift out of 2nd gear and didnt!
Barrow - Average, though only really needed to turn up to win - lets face it our 20s would have won that one
Quins - See Barrow above, only that for the second 40 we were distinctly poor
Bradford - Poor & lethargic throughout - Only the fact that it was bradford and they had 12 men that got us through

In the last 7 games i think you would struggle to put 80 minutes of top RL together from what we have played yet we are still unbeaten in 7 - Says alot IMO!

When we do hit the straps, which we will at some point, I cant see anyone being able to live with us and that includes yourselves, as good as you are at the moment.

Anyway back on topic, this thread was about some 3rd rate halfback winning man of steel wasnt it?...........

If this was one of us on the Wigan Site we wouldn't have gone this far, a ban would have been in place. Could we please get rid of this apology for a Pie Eater?

Dear gerr'emonside, stop the cock measuring or you'll find the amount of forums you can post on reduced by 1.

Dear Wire posters, do not engage this poster if he throws out a line as an ignored troll is a bored troll.

Because we've won them whilst playing badly? Results don't necessarily define form. You've been in better form than us yet we're still up at the top of the league with you lot.

P.S. the irony of your attack on the mental ability of another when your grammer is so atrocious is very entertaining. Keep it up.

Helmet. FAIL.
Please inform me where my grammer (sic) is so atrocious, in the above post.
Oh, and by the way, Wigan aren't at the top of the league.
Wigan are two points behind Warrington, with a vastly inferior points difference.
Know your place, sunshine.

Back on thread now, and ignoring tiresome Wigan trolls, Lee is in great form, and deserves to be mentioned as a POTENTIAL MoS. However, there's still half the season left to play, good chance for Monaghan/Hodgson/Westwood to improve their claims to the title.

Mozza should be in with a chance as well.If Hoffman keeps improving he might be worth a little bet.

Briers is in the form of his life due to the fact we now have Hodgson on the pitch. He provides an additional pivot that gives Briers more freedom.

I think if we are honest; firstly froma Wire POV- as great as Westwood and Moz are week in and week out, it can not be ignored that we are 350+ points in the table. IT is undoubtedly going to go to a play maker instead of a battering ram in the team. Briers, MM and Hodgeson are obviously in with a shout. As I have said previously, probably B.H 180 points (or so) of that 350 are his so that is a BIG boost for him.

Sts have hit an injury crisis (well not really) but there hasn't been a constant team to be judged and no one apart from 'New King' Roby has shown anywhere near the levels needed for MOS. Although he has really shown some talent.

From Wigan, I'm thinking no one. Sam is a great player and some stats back him up, but last year he won young person of the year. Manly cause he appeared to be a revelation in a dominant Wigan team. The only other person who I have heard has done well is Hoffman. Finch and Lima aren't worth mentioning in the conversation and Richards has missed too much of the year.

From hudds, there are big shouts for Danny Brough and that winger from the championship. They are certainly looking a good team, always progressing and really seem to have taken a place in the big four.

Can't see anyone from Leeds getting in there.

There are many options from 'smaller teams' (sorry) such as Scott Dureau, Paul Huby and maybe Rangi Chase. But I can't see them getting the nod over a dominant Warrington team or if the other two biggies get a vein of form/
