| Quote y05heather="y05heather"I stand in the South Stand every game I am not young, far from it but up until this year I have enjoyed the banter. This year it has changed, different people, different standards, to many stewards making me feel intimidated it's as if they an willing something to kick off. Maybe it's time for me to retire to the other stands. I must think that it was short sighted to leave the West Stand closed.'"
and those 2 points are exactly my thoughts. I don't think it's an age thing though. What's wrong with just being right with folk??

It's pot calling the kettle black. Which is not irony, but not sure if there is a word for that?
Irony is where you say something but mean the opposite. i.e. it's raining outside and you say "Nice weather today isn't it".

Is there a German word for laughing at other people's misfortune?

Schadenfreude. Though to be a touch specific, it is gaining pleasure from others misfortune.

| The stewarding yesterday was very poor. There was a group of Fev fans allowed to almost wander up to Ben Westwood when he was taking the first conversion. There was another group being allowed to walk up and down in front of the stand. The West Stand should have been left open for visiting fans. I walked up to the ground from Bridge Foot at about 2.15pm and there were a lot of very drunk Fev fans wandering around the town centre pubs. I then went into the Red Lion for a couple of jars and found it full of some very verbally aggressive Fev fans.
Opening the West Stand would have meant that all the Featherstone fans could be together and would have prevented the confrontation they had with the stewards.

Isn't it "shameful joy" in direct translation?

No. You are getting the German words Schande and Schaden confused.

| I can't believe someone actually answered the question (even more stunned as to who fell for it).

i also went in the red lion for a drink before the game with my wife, but when we got to the bar there were 4 blokes stood just in front of the bar and one man decided to pull his togger out off his trousers and wave it around. and they wonder why the stewards stand there staring at them in the match.
if someone can do that in a full pub, then they need watching in the ground were there are a lot more children around.
