Wood, Green and Thomas etc will be available to play for the Smellies with the dual registration arrangement that we have with them.

| So the Okoro thing about keeping him if both parties agree, seems to be for a possible season long loan, rather than an actual keep him permanently deal from what i've read.
Which would make more sense, as his game time would be quite limited here. Where if he impresses there he might play week in week out.
Although i would rather have him on a rolling month to month loan, rather than just seeing him off for the whole season.

Don't remember that but I assume these were both about getting match fitness; I picked examples where players were sent out early in their careers to get a bit of experience and then recorded 100+ appearances for us.

I think Iโm wrong about Briers being loaned.
It may had been spoken about following an injury but I wouldnโt put a penny on that either.

As I said a short list, especially if you compare to those players who went on loan and didn't establish themselves in the 1st team. It's even shorter if you only consider loans made in the last decade.
I guess my point was "if you find yourself on loan, there is a high chance you will be out of the door soon after" as these will testify (non-exhaustive list of loans in the last 5 years).

Surely though ANY deal - be it loan, permanent or whatever - only ever happens if all parties agree to it, so I'm not sure why that needs to be written into an agreement. But hey ho, let's just hope it works out for the best.

I don't think in Lineham's case it was for experience. He had 5 years / 70 games at Hull FC prior to joining us and was 25. His loan period was 3 games.

SAM Burgess has played down reports of a rift between himself and one of the key members of his Warrington Wolves side.
Following the end of the 2024 season, rumours started to circulate of a falling-out between Burgess and prop Paul Vaughan, with the latter then heading back home to Australia for the off-season break.
As such, there was speculation aplenty that Vaughan had played his last game for the club, with reports on both sides of the globe linking him with a move back to the NRL with Parramatta Eels.
However, Vaughan returned to England to start pre-season training earlier this month and Burgess insists he remains a big part of his plans moving forward.
โI love Vaughany and I love what he brings,โ he said.
โThereโs always speculation about a lot of players but with Vaughany, there was a little more than usual.
โFrom my point of view, I love him being at the club and heโs a big part of what weโre doing.
โI was never making any noise that I wanted him to go anywhere, so Iโm happy heโs here.
โHeโs been great in pre-season since heโs been back, so itโs been good to have him back around.โ
Talk surrounding Vaughanโs future is unlikely to die down, given he is among the Wire players entering the final season of their contracts with the club.
And as a result of a change in the rules surrounding recruitment, players in Vaughanโs situation are now free to discuss deals for 2026 and beyond having previously had to wait until May 1.
Regardless, it would appear Vaughan will be staying for 2025 โ but will he be joined by any more new players?
Sam Burgess offers Warrington Wolves recruitment update
Burgess has added three new players to his squad in half-back Oli Leyland, second-rower Dan Russell and rugby union convert Alfie Johnson and refused to rule out any more incomings.
However, he insisted he would be more than happy to go into the new season with the squad he currently has.
โItโs always a fluid market and weโve got a tiny bit of cap space, so weโll keep the door open in case something pops up,โ he said.
โFor now, weโre pretty settled and comfortable with the squad weโve got.
โIโm really happy with what we have โ you never know how things might turn out with injuries and things like that but Iโm very confident in the squad.โ

| This is all to do with how Sam & Vaughan get on. If they understand each other it doesn't really matter about gossip & speculation and the crap of social media. They seem pretty similar blokes to me. He is bound to be looking for a 2 year contract but sensibly you wouldn't think it would be with us. He has been a very good signing.

| Come on Abe give us a clue, what's he done? (quote button not working)
Nothing. It was a joke tweet aimed at a few people who knew about Vaughan being thrown in the back of a Police van outside the stadium on Friday.
On a serious note, recruitment meetings etc have already started happening for 2026 and onwards. A few names being mentioned, one English prop in particular is being targeted to replace Vaughan/Musgrove. Please don't DM me about it, I can't tell you.
Have a great Christmas folks !!!
