| What do people think about Scott Taylor? He seemed pretty good the few times I've seen him recently, stats look good too and I imagine he'd prefer to stay in SL if Salford go down...

Signed for Hull to replace Paea.
Saints are after another prop as well, but may look at settling for a backrower at this rate. Saints, Warrington and Wigan all chasing props will only lead to even mediocre props demanding huge wages.

Ha ha yes the props were crap tonight that shows it. Sims and Hill ran and tackled their hearts out tonight on there own. England played 15 mins ? Asotasi is a waste of space granted, and our back line were all still tired from school. How can anyone expect a pack of philbin, currie, king, Wilde compete in Superleague.

| 3 things have caused us a problem that has not been solved ,the signing of roy Asotasi,on I assume big money , total letdown ,, Paul Wood leaving and not immediately being replaced and Ben Evans sustaining a bad injury so early on , England was always going to be a punt but, he did show good signs at start of season ,,, so who's call was it to sign Big Roy ?? Imagine if we'd got cuthbertson instead

Asotasi isn't anywhere near as bad as Warrington fans make out. His metres per carry are very good, he just isn't used for long. I'd say Smith's use of him is making him look a lot worse than he actually is. He's better with the ball than Ashton Sims who is much lauded on here. Doesn't have the same defensive stats, but I'll bet Sims' minutes on the field swamp Asotasi's.

| Asotasi has had nothing like the impact of Sims ,for someone with his reputation he has been very disappointing, nothing personal,I'd have love to have seen him perform like he has done in the past but, it hasn't happened

You are entirely right, Asotasi makes good metres per carry, secures quick PTBs and hits hard in defence...but only for fifteen minutes a game.
Sims is actually a poor carrier of the ball and always gets a taste of the grass even with only one defender present. He is very vulnerable to a low, well executed tackle. He escapes criticism because he does appear to be enthusiastic and tries his level best.

| IMO, Sims is our clubs vision of Peacock. But Sims falls some way short of that expectation. I would hazard a guess he is on more money though.

I would be amazed if sims was on anywhere near peacocks salary. He came over from the NRL as an average journeyman prop, unlike his brothers who are now looking likely to be origin players.
Asotasi on the other hand I can believe is probably on more than Peacock, and there in lies a big part of the problem. Value for money terms he is awful - I understand that's the clubs fault rather than his, but in a salary capped sport fans want more from their top earners than the poor 15 minute shift he is capable of. If smith thought Asotasi was capable of more than 15 mins he would play him for more, especially given our current forward issues.

| If the money we are paying Big Roy has stopped us from signing another prop ,then he has cost us dear ,Ashton always puts a shift in and takes a backward step or hides when the going gets tough ,Ashton and Hilly have given everything this season and as far as I'm concerned are beyond criticism

| any notion that Asotasi does anything better than sims is nonsense.
Sims shows the game means something he makes last ditch tackles that would stop a midfield break, Ive seen more than one occasion sims hanging on to someone by one arm and being the reason that a player has been stopped.
he'll also do that while sweating like a lover because he's putting in a good stint in attack and defence.
Asotasi has missed midfield tackles, plenty of goal line tackles, and doesnt even get too excited about making tackles generally, all in 14 to 16 minutes of play!!! he should be impeccable. masoe did three 6 minutes stints against us but actually made a midfield bust and scored a try.
I will say till the end of time Asotasi is our worst ever overseas signing, and I saw Adam Doyle.
