As a long time supporter of Cas I can honestly say that you have always been my team to follow the wrong side of the pennines and I was at Wembley with my Cas shirt on complete with Warrington cap sat in the middle of the Leeds scum.

My point is, that although no-one can doubt your support is brilliant I must say that last season a few of you made things very intimidating down the lane. For the 2nd half you positioned yourselves at either end of the Wheldon Road stand and as the game was very much one sided continually baited our support with the usual "I want to go home, Cas is a hole" for the whole of the half and trying to get a unsavoury reaction from ourselves.

As I say, your support is brilliant but just a small minority, as normal, spoil it for the majority.

I have serious worries about anyone who would want to start up a group with a name that is associated with one of the most feared group of football hooligans in Europe (or a sanitary towel, be it with or without wings). it would automatically the chav types that all decent RL fans hate. Why can't everyone simply support their team in their own way and not be dictated to by a small group. If anyone has ever stood or sat next to me they'll know that I am one of the noisiest men that they'll ever have the misfortune to be next to, but I don't sing. Every couple of weeks we get a thread like this and we get the same few who think only they can create an atmosphere.

I'd love football clubs in England to have [ireal[/i ultras groups, along the lines of the Italians, as clubs wouldn't be able to constantly shaft their fans the way they do here if that was the case. There is however a world of difference between that and what Wigan do.

The closest in British sport are the Green Brigade at Celtic who I admire a lot.

This takes me back to when Wigan started their own "Ultra" group. If its a group of lads getting together to improve the atmosphere, great. Just don't give it a silly name with hooligan connotations and/or wear balaclavas and generally act the giddy goat at away games. Our town has had enough image problems in the past without this adding to it.

Arf. It's a fair point that sitting amongst Leeds fans wearing the shirt of their local rivals and cap of the team their playing against on the day does appear to be a sure fire way to draw attention to yourself.

Fair enough if that's what you want, but I'd brand any Warringtonian who went to Wembley in the Wigan end last year wearing a Wire top and Leeds cap an idiot as well.

No one from Warrington is setting up an ultras group. Its cringy, its a copy and its not need in rugby league. However Warrington's home atmosphere is poop at the moment and we're all in agreement something needs to change. Personally I think all we need is a few hundred people to get the songs started. At the moment its must be only 10-20 people max starting the songs off which is very hard to do when no one joins in. if you compare this to away matches when everyone is together we have no problem getting songs going and creating a good atmosphere even if its against crap teams.

Warrington having precisely zero good songs is the reason why I don't sing personally.

i agree with barmy army guy, we need a home atmosphere like leeds where everyone joins in and sings no matter who they are playing whether its london or wigan

we do have good songs, just not many people know the words to it...like the just cant get enough, i love singing that but we do one round of it and stop, people get to know that and it will be class, also the 'we love we love we love that is why we follow' song is awesome, everyone knows the words and that will be awesome

Leeds' atmosphere improved around the time they lifted Leeds United's songbook.

Marching On Together is a great song, but it's their football club's really. The only good song in RL is Old Faithful.

The new songs at Warrington, as at Wigan, have been copied from Green Brigade Youtube videos!

We do have a few good songs but it would be nice to expand our song book.

You're right with that but the thing is all clubs copy each other wether you like it or not.

Fair enough, but those songs are Celtic songs to me. I like Celtic a lot and I'm registered on the Green Brigade forum, but it feels a bit wrong singing altered versions.

If i remember rightly didn't celtic rip off a few songs as well? Most of the new songs they have came from clubs across Europe and YNWA came from Liverpool.

Probably, although you always associate any song with the first set of fans you hear singing it. I acknowledge that doesn't neccessarily mean they started it.

Versions of 'Oh Warrington Is Wonderful' are sung by countless sets of fans with their own town/city/area replacing Warrington and team replacing Wire, but to me it's a Warrington song.

I've got an idea why don't you sing 'Barmy Army' whilst banging a drum. I mean it's not as if any other team sings it in rugby league or in any other sport for that matter. It'd be totally original and will get the fans going no problem!

on that point, does anyone on here, actually know, or can recall seeing those three from that picture EVER, at a game.

I dont claim to know every fans face on a matchday but over the course of twenty or so years there's familiar faces i've become accustomed to seeing home or away.

Those three, never, and bear in mind that pic os from 01/02 when crowds were down to about 4k or less.

I'm thinking about starting an appeal.
