I'd guess we had about 4,500-5,000 there for the play off fixture last year and that was pretty rammed.

I reckon there will be an overspill of Wire fans standing towards that popular stand tonight in the corner and possibly even further.

It's a fantastic following to be fair. Is the team going to come up with the goods to back the fans though? Thats the big question. Your form this season is fantastic but something seems to happen to Saints on nights like this.

Since the 80 nil we've had everything at that ground. Mainly massive drubbings for the first few years of SL, one of the most dispiriting being when Alfie had gone back to play SoO and came back for the St Helens match a real hero. We were battered and my abiding image of that match was him on all fours in front of the sticks at the Warrington end looking pig sick. Then the year when Nikau (I think, or maybe it was Guisset ) was penalised by Bob Connolly, backchatted him, so was yellow carded, backchatted some more and was red carded. Then we've had the two drop goals in recent years - one in the year of the 3 tries in 9 minutes at the HJ and then the year before last when I was receiving updates whilst on holiday knowing full well what was going to happen. Then, there was last year when we were up at half time, battering them and on 50 minutes Gilmour goes round Johnson from the scrum and the rest is history.

Where will tonight sit in that history? In about 9 hours we'll know.

Well yes, we're not going to win the rest of the matches this season. We have 21 league matches left after tonight. Anything above 15 wins would see us in the top 2.

This situation is a self-perpuatating mill stone. If we lose, so be it. It is obvious this squad has a mindset, backed up by a work ethic, that does not allow disappointing results to derail them. See Wigan /Huddersfield for reference.
