We are well off for props (ten named in the first team squad) who can play first team & hopefully one or even two might step up this year. We are probably stronger than usual in this regard. However, like you, I'd love one who can scatter opposition on a regular basis. I know Okoro was coming back from a nasty injury (broken jaw) but did anyone see him in action towards the end of the year?

6’4 and 17st I’d like to hope there are some opportunities for him this season. Still very young and possible for him to be a big player for us.

That's quantity though, effectiveness is yet to be proven for a good number.

He seemed to spend quite a bit of time running across the face of the defence in the game I saw, looking to find a gap. With his size I was expecting to see rather more of a 'in your face ' approach. Still, the coaches will have spent a lot of time with him when it comes to the start of the '25 season, so we will see.

Thanks for this. I'll put you on the spot. Which of our young props do you think is most likely to step up?

That means almost nothing if they don't have drive and aggression. See Bullock, Sangare, Dudson, Karl Pryce, Kibula

Only aggression I saw from Dudson was punching a centre before he joined us. Kibula was a big girls blouse.

| Comments above re drive and aggression are spot on. Holroyd is a great example of this, more so in defence than attack though. We need at least 2 of our young props to play consistently aggressively and well enough to raise the performances of Musgrove etc.

| If Holroyd improves (and only by a bit) he is going to be undroppable.

He shown the club that he is 100% committed by tuning down a great opportunity i think he will be rewarded for this and he will only improve with more first team opportunities.

Think it’s where he prefers, but thinking Taylor-Wray probably the future for that spot now.

Developing as a winger in the Tommy Makinson mould (Without the squirrel grip thankfully).
He played all his career at full back prior to getting into our 1st team and could cover there again if necessary.
As other posters have said though, CTW is the heir apparent for our fullback position.

He's got so much attacking skill & quick. Very exciting prospect from the (limited) amount I've seen.

| He’s got lots to learn of course but Dufty needs to be as good as last season to keep him out. He looks absolute class.

| I’d go Thewlis at FB and CTW on the wing.
CTW would like Ashton have more attacking opportunities on the wing.
It seems to look more balanced that way to me.
The pace out right if we had Lindop and CTW could be something.

You could say the same about Dufty then as he and CTW have similar characteristics and skill sets. You want your best attacking players to get their hands on the ball as much as possible IMO, so full back is CTW’s position for me as things stand.

I would hope Luke Thomas will step up. John Kear said " he doesn't have a handbrake", and from what I have seen he has the controlled aggression and determination to succeed. Hopefully the coaches will be adding the black art of the prop to his skill set and we will see him making the bench in the coming year.

| Returning to the discussion on FB position, I think Thewliss has a fantastic attitude and puts his neck on the line at every game. But.... I don't think he is a winger. Its tough when you have someone of the quality of Matty Ashton on the other wing because inevitably you are drawn to make a comparison, but I don't think he is quite fast enough and all too often he steps left to avoid the cover rather than go for the corner. I am wondering if perhaps Taylor Wray could develop into a HB. I have certainly seen him join the attack and make long miss out passes to the flanks and of course he is an elusive runner. That's a long way from playing HB of course.

| I’d have him back in a heartbeat.
There isn’t a player better equipped to be on the bench than Harvey.
Can play every position very well, and can kick a ball as good as anyone.
A Swiss Army knife.
