That's because there isn't one.I can't believe that, once again, some people have actually fallen for this.

| The 'wanting to compete' line seems to be a dig at Wakey, and implies they have no ambition or money. But surely he was 'competing' when he was at Hull ? Big club, decent budget presumably, but he didn't seem to make much of his opportunities over there.

| He might be going to Catalans. He is coach of the French national team after all.
I wouldn't dismiss this: he might not come here but I think there's more to the Agar story that will soon be revealed.
It's rare these days that a coach resigns or asks to be released when he has a couple of years on his contract, as he won't get a payoff, whereas when a coach digs their heels in and refuses to resign the club have to pay them off when they leave. The phrase "I've never walked away from a challenge in my life" from a sports coach faced with questions about their future generally means "....when I am entitled to a payoff if I stay till I'm sacked."
So if he has gone voluntarily and foregone a payoff he must have something lined up and the comment about wanting to be somewhere where he can compete suggests he has got an opportunity he perceives as better.
I think we will see Agar turning up elsewhere in SL, whether its at Warrington or not we will have to wait and see.

| I can only really see this rumour being true if agar is to act as an experienced assistant to a first time coach like Michael Monaghan or Adrian Morley!
IF of course sir tony is going to be on his way and I really hope he isn't. Easily the best coach we have had in my lifetime supporting the wire.

| This has just been discussed on Super League Backchat, they said how Agar has been linked and rumoured for a while to be joining Wire. It was said that he would be on the coaching staff alongside Smith maybe with a view to taking over when/if Smith departs.

| i find it amusing how you wire fans brand us(hull fc) a poor team when Agar took over us, cast your minds back we had won a challenge cup 2005 and got to the grand final(2006) then Agar took over and we went backwards, back to w@nky me thinks. good luck

| Hull are a good lesson for us. If you move out good players / coaches and bring in ones that aren't at the same level then its not hard to predict what happens.
Hull were on the verge of something big and they started bringing in players like Calderwood, Thorman, Todd Byrne while guys were leaving like Blacklock, Swain, Brough, Carvell.
I bet there were Hull fans saying Kear or Peter Sharp had taken Hull as far as they can, but they regretted it afterwards, they didn't implode like Bradford but they went on a steady decline from trophy competitors to also rans (Carvell timed his move to us perfectly).
Are we moving in teh same direction or are we improving on our personnel to take us to the next level?

| If we sign Agar as coach then we will drop off, I'm hearing a lot now and it's starting to worry we slightly.
Agar in charge is a huge backward step, would he be welcome...not by me.

| Agar will do okay if the money is available. So would John Kear and I'd wind some up here but Paul Cullen now he's older and wiser could still do a job. He was perhaps a bit too close to some guys back then. I'm sure his age would draw a line this time.
I once said to him if Chris Bridge had of stayed fit he would still be at Warrington. A statement from me he said was interesting and he couldn't argue against.

| Quote: vastman "What a load of tosh. When he started we were top 8. He had player such as Amor, Aiton, Collis, Kirmond, Lautiti, Poore and an in form Tim Smith at his disposal just to name a few. Now you can fairly argue that team probably still wasn't good enough to win SL but one year later it finished 11th. Come on!
So cut the rubbish about top class players, quite the opposite if you'd bothered to look and not make assumptions.'"
Not tosh at all. You name seven players out of squad of what, twenty-five? Smith and Lauititi both well past their best even a few years ago, Collis solid but unspectacular, and the other five good but far from great. In any case, Agar did get you into the play-offs, right? I guess that he had nothing to do with that? I carry no torch for him but if you can't see that he was not managing a top-class squad then you're the one guilty of talking rubbish.
