1883.jpg Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

In fairness to Hohaia, he is being asked to play in a position where he hasn't played for three years. Problem is, he spent the majority of his last three years at the Warriors playing fullback, seemingly Saints don't want to play him there.

| in fairness to him (bleh) he's spent most of the last ten years being shifted between 1,6,7 and 9. And not being very good in any of them.

It seemed our left side just couldn't string everything together properly - we either took too long to pass it across, giving them enough time to move across, or threw a forward pass. Possibly also Saints were more wary of the left side given the speed of Riley, Atkins and Myler. The kick through for Atkins was a good effort though, that's something I like about our left side, that they all seem to be able to kick ahead and use their speed to chase the ball down.

| Myler looked like a proper half back.

| Very good performance tonight.
Thought we were consistent in both attack and defence.
Tactics appeared to be spot on.
Forwards certainly on top and the final score understated our efforts.
Penalties we gave away were frustrating as were the forward passes, but all in all a good nights work

Gareth Hock can't pass

Gareth Hock can't fight

| The weak points from last night (compared to a typical good wire performance)
.The last twenty mins of the first half were a penalty bonanza
.Atkins was just a shade off in the things that make him my favourite wire
.too many forward passes (We'll exclude the obvious 'levellling up' one given when Bert had nothing but the line ahead) Ratchford and Atkins cost us two solid tries with obvious forward passes
.Silverspud tried to kill the game for us again
. they scored a try way to easy
Positives
.Every player played either amazing or to a high enough standard to win
.We won
.Great tactics
.Everyone came out fit (fingers crossed)
.Monas (M) isn't beyond help and is actually still the best Hooker in the league
.This bull hoodoo is dead... FOR GOOD!!

| I don't really get the 'great performance' I thought we were effecient, completed our sets and defended well. Don't think we did anything outstandingly well with the exception of our defence/kick chase.

| All the gameplan Sintellins had was to run at Myler and Briers in the line. One dimensional.

It got a little embarrassing didn't it. Their powerhouse forwards like Josh (we thought we were getting Katy) Perry and Tony P being continually felled by littluns like Myler, Briers and Ratchford.

Can anyone help me out and shw me a younger team that still would of done just as well or shouldn't I be worrying. Also when Eddie said tha he said this year could be do or die for wire because of the age.

He actually said 11 out of the 19, and two of them (Solomona and Carvell) weren't in the 17.

Whichever one of them said that was wrong - 9 of the 17 were 30+ not 11. You could swap a couple of them out and expect a similar performance, probably not as good but still good enough I reckon - Bridge when fit at centre and Ratchford at full back, Harrison in the 2nd row (people keep saying he could be a prop, maybe instead of Wood?), and on a good day Dwyer for Higham. It wouldn't be as good, you would miss the tackling in the 2nd row and Hodgsons' creativity, but still an excellent squad with only 6 players 30+.
I think we need to be keeping an eye on props in case one of Morley, Carvell and Wood decide to retire in the near future, as that seems to be the one position we are short on as far as young talent goes. I hope they stay and carry on being as great as they are, but it's not going to last forever and it could happen sooner than we are expecting.
EDIT: 11 of the 19 makes sense, but in the end we didn't play 2 of them and still won comfortably.

| I thought Saints were awful last night, they need a serious shake up. Hohaia is awful and offers nothing. Lomax didn't do anything, though I understand it must be tough behind a beaten pack. Like others have said their tactics were just run into Myler really and his defence was terrific. My one surprise about Saints was how anonymous Tony Puletua wasbecause he's usually quality especially against us.
Oh, and I still reckon that Joel Monaghan's try should have been given (I thought he took the ball off him before he hit the floor) and even Briers' as I thought McCarthy knocked it backwards, but that's probably just me being biased.

I'd forgotten about that, wasn't that the one where the replay showed he knocked it back over his shoulder? I know it's more complicated because of the way your hands are facing/moving/whatever, but I don't think it is possible to knock it forward in any way and have it travel backwards over your shoulder.
