I agree, quite sad realy. I don't understand it. I was a big fan of Gleeson, scored and set up a bucket full of tries for us. Good luck to a genuine and honest quality player. To add though, I wouldn't swap any one of the three centres we have at the moment for him . Even for £100,000.

Unfortunately, rightly or wrongly, MG was seen to be a bad apple in the barrel that is WWRLFC, (as he "seemed" to have been at St`s)! Is it a coincidence that since he has left the club, professionalism seems to have stepped up to the next level? I dont know, but one thing is for sure, we are 100% stronger in the centre positions, (and indeed as a club and a squad), since he moved on, but to be fair, MG seems to have pulled his finger out as a pro, since he moved to wigan... So a win....Win poisition for both clubs eh?

To answer the original posters question.
I would guess that Martin Gleeson is a bit pleased that some of his old mates have got themselves another medal.
I would guess that he is quite proud of his part in the fact that Wigan have finished top of the Superleague table.
And to answer how is he feeling now. As I am posting at quarter to one in the morning I would guess that if he is still awake he will be feeling either pretty tired ( as I do ) or pretty inebriated.

That is exactly how I see it, and thats exactly how it is really, its a shame most of your fans cant admit to that though, they see an opportunity to 'score points' and end up looking like sad bitter idiots.

its just fact isnt it, some players simply dont fit in at one club, yet thrive at another dont they? M.Gleeson and R.Mathers are prime examples of this, although-be-it for differing reasons..

Meh.
He made is choice and now he has to stick with it. Saying that, he is currently in pole position to win a GF, but it's still a long way away yet.

| I don't get why people call Gleeson a Judas, it was us who sold him. Did he put in a transfer request and say he wanted to join a bigger club? We sold him to get money for him plus Mathers.
When he was here he was good. All the things people say about him are just based on hearsay from internet forums and chat in the pub, there was always talk about him being a boozer and a late night partier and so on, just like there always was about Briers. It never affected his performances or his fitness, the only time you ever saw evidence of it was the innuendo and speculation on the internet, which is what a lot of people have judged him on. His playing record for us was very good, he played the best rugby of his career with us.
When Henry Fa'afili was here, running in try after try after try and every year being at the top of the try scoring charts, he got criticised like anything by our fans, people said he was useless and only looked good because 'anyone could score tries playing outside Gleeson'. Then there was also always the debate during Cullen's days about why our right side attack was lethal and our left side attack didn't score enough tries....who was it that was making our right side attack so dangerous?
Last week on that thread about Toa I said about when he came back for his second spell with us he was still decent but not the destructive force of old in his first time and I think the same has happened with Gleeson, nowadays he's a decent player but not the player he was in his prime at Warrington, Tony Smith has made a good call on this and sold him at the right time when his value was still high. A year ago I would never have wanted Atkins instead of Gleeson but it has to be said now he's ahead of him, Gleeson doesn't have the same explosive power than Atkins does.
Lets move on from Gleeson, we did well out of him, we signed him just as he was coming into his prime, we had his best years as an individual (even though the team was frustrating), and we got good resale value out of him and got Mathers as part of the deal, and then replaced him with Atkins which was the right move, all round good business from the club. However Gleeson played a lot of games for Wire, he was rarely injured, he performed consistently and is one of the best centres I've seen in a primrose and blue jersey so he deserves respect for his Wire career. When people slag him off it's based on internet forum innuendo, rather than his performances, there's always been that sort of chat about Briers though as well.

There was one on there anyway, 'how the hell has this guy won 2 Challenge Cups' or something like that!

No it doesn't. Have fun at Knowsley Road, and make sure you knock a few lumps out of them before we play them in the Grand Final

| Quote: Dougy "OK, enjoy your moment cos as i've said earlier, not many clubs have won back-to-back Challenge Cups, so you need to enjoy your bit of history. But I can't belive anyone would say they would rather win the cup than the league.
Next year, if we win the cup and you win the league, you'll know what i mean. Everyone wants to be the best, and winning the league is the only way you can prove it, you say 'ahh we won the Challenge Cup, ahh we won the Grand Final' but unless you have finished top, you cannot say 'we are the best, no doubt''"
So what you are saying is you would rather watch your team walk around the DW with the hub cap than walk around Wembley or Old Trafford with the super league trophy. Ask Saints or Leeds fans what they would rather see. finishing top no longer means you are champions, wining the grandfinal does.Wining both means that theres no doubt that your the best.
No t.v or newspaper reporters ever say its the league champions against the grand final winners. I asked this question on your forum and the majority say the grand final means your the champs not the minor premiers.

| Finishing top of the league is some mean feat and I congratulate Wigan for it. But I look forward to playing them again.

Parry Gordon's passes,Les Boyd's strong runs,Mike Gregory's workrate,Des Drummond's tries,Jonathan Davies' sheer genius...........oh,and Alan Rathbone's punches! All memories of the legendary venue which was Wilderspool stadium. Gone maybe, but never, ever forgotten.
Warrington 15,Australia 12.

| What a thoroughly embarrassing thread. A perfect example of why it's almost always better to hold your tongue till the very end.
