| PADDERS, I think you might find PY's post was a little indirect dig at your opinion on Bridge rather than his honest opinion.
Bridge's problem is that he is a jack of all trades but a real master at none. If he had played in one position all his career, I think he would be even better than he is now - which is good enough at centre for England and Warrington.
In SL, I can only think of Gidley, Senior and Gleeson who I would rather have at centre over him at the moment.

So your happy to have someone whom you rate as not being a master of his position playing there , you also say he is better than King,Atkins, Shenton,Carmont, webster,Yeaman,Delaney I doubt it but your entitled to your opinion as for good enough Centre for England I disagree , maybe good enough against France but NZ and the Aussies will steam roller him ! PY'S comment was made before I even mentioned Bridge ,in fact he brought his name up not me !! read back and see for yourself !

| The point being Padders that you yourself justified your position on Penny as being correct as it was shared (apparently) by Tony Smith whose "judgement is far better than anybody's on this forum" including yourself and your opinion on Bridge, as let not forget Smith picked Bridge at centre for England, does so for Warrington when faced with a fully fit squad (and this pushing King onto the wing) and saw fit to award him a four year contract.
So if you want people to concede that you're right about Penny then by the same token you should concede you are wrong about Bridge.

Penny is a lost cause and with the signing of Williams he will never get a sniff in our 1st team unless we have a massive injury crisis with wingers !he will be gone at the end of the season if not before !'"

I do think TS's judgement on players is far superior to mine but I think that bridge has never fulfilled his potential in any position bridge has done Ok at centre but isn't one of the best and I want the best !
Bridge however plays with his emotions and confidence is high with the International call up and praise off Smith .
I hope he steps up to the level that we deserve to see off him and becomes the best centre in the world but he has a fair way to go yet but I hope Bridge makes it to that level he isn't there yet so praise will have to wait for me to eat humble pie !
still think King and Atkins are the 2 best centres at our club !

Is there no place in our team for a showman, an entertainer - do we not go to be entertained or is it simply a case of win at all costs?
Would Brian Bevan also be an unwanted reject by todays standards?'"
I hope not, but it seems RL is heading that way.

| We are being a tad harsh on Padders. I get where he is coming from. I don't think Bridge is in the Top2 best centres at Warrington nevermind in England. But he is one exciting, creative, pacey, evasive and good distributing player on form.

He is better than all the centres you name, except King and possibly Webster.

| Padders, you've obviously never played
Bridge displays all the right centre qualities and Atkins isn't in the same league as a centre.
Bridge's problem ultimately will be that he just isn't quite big enough at International level, he's nullified against someone like Inglis, still, aren't most?
Just LOL

| Penny over Riley any day.
Someone, please tell Chris R that going into contact with the ball held somewhat delicately in both hands like it was a chickens egg means that when the hit comes in ............. it's likely to be dislodged. How many times this season .......? I really, really hold my breath every single time he runs it back from near our line.
Penny for me.
[sizebtw - this ain't a rant at Chris R - I just belive that in comparison Penny offers more.[/size
