| None can compare with the wonder that was The Kowloon and its wafer thin batter.

| May I also humbly mention Gastronomic (Marsh House Lane)
They part-fry the chips, then, when someone actually turns up into the shop, they blast them until fully cooked, then shake the oil off, so you've actually got "fresh" chips, and they've not sweated in that compartment where 99% of chippies store their "ready to go" chips in. They're excellent chips in there.

| I used to go that one on Knutsford Road after a session in town. Can't remember it's name, and I never had the chips so I don't know if they were any good, but I was passionately in love with the girl who served behind the counter.
Gorgeous in her Rugby Leaguer top, the light off the soft drinks machine used to make her eyes sparkle divinely as she tossed sausages. She was the Julie Christie of the batter world.
I used to turn up in my Wires top hoping our eyes would meet and we could discuss the merits of Rocky Turner over the crackle of the cod frying. Alas, she broke my heart and I've never eaten fish and chips since, though I have been veggie for 26 years so can't blame doomed romance for that.

Superb Salt and Pepper chips in there as well.

Completely agree HY, anaemic under cooked floury chips down here from the chippies. There is the occasional good chippy but they charge a fortune.

| Just had a Harry's
Half rice half chips gravy. Rice very salty, had ham, spring onion in. Chips were very nice, gravy was ok but too much was poured over it.
Billy had half rice half chips sausage and meat pie. He is now a sleep. Review later when he wakes.
Alex had fish chips peas. Not as nice as the golden fryer on dam lane Woolston
Overall 7/10

| After living in Hull for three years I can't enjoy fish and chips round here any more. We live in Sankey and there is no decent traditional chippers that spring to mind within a reasonable distance however Yuans on the square does a good Chinese.

I'm on a health kick at the moment (as I'm getting back into the RL refereeing) so don't have much takeout food as I used to, but the best food I've ever had is not around here, it's up in Glasgow. The food is a hell of a lot better up there, and the Munchy Box may just be the greatest thing you could ever buy from a takeout.

| I haven't lived in Warrington for 18 months, but Cantilever or Callands Continental were always my Chip-Shops of choice. These days I go to the Village Chippy in Gee Cross.
I always fancied opening my own Chippy and calling it 'Paul's Smelly Wet Plaice.'

Only been to Glasgow once, about five years ago. I remember having a great fish supper from a little place attached to the railway station before heading home, possibly something like Blue Lagoon?

Do some work for my Bro in law in his Hessle yard, and don't know where the wagon drivers get the fish/chips from but lets say you don't go hungry with portion sizes .... and always cooked well.
Biggest problem is staying awake on the journey back after eating it .......
