| Whether you like the band or not, Joey Jordison from Slipknot is a better drummer than any of the ones mentioned. I have a relative who teaches drums and he can't work out how he does some of the things he does, his foot speed is phenomenal. There is even an interesting clip of him playing live (instead of Lars) with Metallica and he makes them a much better band!
btw has anyone heard the new album by Slash yet? It is a really mixed bag but there are a couple of great tracks, two with Lemmy and Andrew Stockdale are rocking and there is a great jam with Dave Grohl and Izzy Stradlin. However best not mention the one with Fergie off of the Black Eyed Peas.

Brufords solo albums from late seventies/early eighties were stunning. Just noticed you've changed Duke to Seconds Out - fantastic album which became the benchmark for live albums for years to come. Even now I've not heard one to even come close. Someone on here has got Wind and Wuthering as their avatar so it looks like we aren't the only ones to still appreciate Britains finest proggers. Which band did Neil Peart play in? Know the name but can't remember the band.'"
Rush. And yes he is/was a good drummer.
Looking at 'Total Drums' top 100 they have;
3 Carl Palmer
2 John Bonham
1 Neal Peart

Thinking about it, Dave Grohl and Dave Lombardo are also worth a shout.

Yes and I'm sure Westlife will disagree in 20 years time when I say they were crap as well

I was at that show with Joey playing instead of Lars; Download 04 if i recall the year correctly. A few other drummers stepped in as well. Again, personally although Joey's phenominal I just get the feeling he, like Travis Barker, are overrated. Personally, and again many disagreed, I prefered the Rev from Avenged in almost every way as a metal drummer. Just found him far more interesting. That aussie bloke from Parkway Drive has massive potential too imo
..and this is the problem I had with that show. Although its great to look on times gone by, the guitarist show basically ended as punk came along when in reality (like with sportsmen/women imho) there have been much more technically gifted musicians in modern day (Dream Theater anyone??). hendrix was great and a revolution, was he a great technical guitarist.. not really.
As for the Slash album, I haven't checked that out yet, didn't like the one song I heard, sounded like every other rocky mainstream compressed production I would hear. I will give it a listen at some point though.

| ASHES TO ASHES FTW!
The 80's look so great with that show, probably e in reality with Thatcher but the music wouldof probably been my saving grace, wasn't born until '90.

I was born in the 60's. A golden era for music was the mid 70's to mid 80's.
Saw some classic bands in my time. Genesis god knows how many times but the highlight was in 1985 I think at Milton Keynes with Gabriel rejoining for a one off. Also saw U2 at Milton Keynes Bowl.
Special mention also for Big Country, saw a classic gig in Liverpool with them.
Dico if you cant into Led Zep I would suggest just listening to Dazed and |confused.

It was in '82 Wirral (the Genesis - Gabriel reunion), a fortnight after I first saw them. Gutted we couldn't get tickets for that. I'm still very slightly hopefull of a reunion, but I'm not holding my breath, especially with Gabriel being the main stumbling block, every time
Don't think we'll get Dico on this one, Wirral. My personal fave of theirs is Since I've Been Loving You. What a song!!!!

| the 80's was a weird time to grow up, i remember being 8 or 9 and wondering why there was a man called George calling himself Boy but dressing like a woman and a woman called Alf who looked like a man. Annie Lennox & Marilyn (a bloke) also looked the wrong way round for me. I also remember asking my mum why Relax was banned as they words "when you wanna cum" did not mean much to a 9 year old, my mum just said "ermmm not sure son, sounds ok to me too".

That's what we're trying to do with Ryker Sear. All original music, composed by the band, all the music recorded by band members only. Trivia connection re your love of Adam and the Ants: Ryker Sear logo and album cover designed by David Storey (creator of the famous 80s 'two-tone' style for The Specials). David Storey was a mate of Adam at Hornsey Art College in the 1970s.
