The best way we could get coverage for rugby league would be on a free to view channel ,sky is doing the game no favours . For too long sky has used rugby league as a shelf filler while taking it away from the casual viewer & has made RL dependent on sky tv.
Agreed, but the motive here is to develop revenue from TV rights licensing, not eyeballs on screens for free. Competition, as mooted, from Amazon Prime or DAZN would help put some pressure on Sky to pay a fair fee for licensing rights - or lose out. To be honest the whole thing with Sky is stale, it needs a revamp. 100% it needs a revamp, it?s tired it?s old and needs to move forward. Being honest the only one I would keep from current crop is Carney and when he finally retires Tomkins I do like listening to him. All the others are garbage. Also I would prefer it to stay on Sky as I do watch other sports(not football) and don?tfancy paying for another sub just for rugby, but hey ho let?s see what happens. Free to view well the BBC are doing a great job NOT. Childish graphics that have not changed for years and now Sharon Shortle, no thanks.

| I like that post but it won?t go anywhere, why not, well because it makes sense. Pretty sure Wire,Wigan the both Hull clubs are very interested in this and if those clubs get onboard surely Saints and Leeds won?t want to miss that train. Then Catalan will be in along side Toulouse and with Hetherington going to London surely you would like to think this will happen.
Guess what?s holding it back is Beaumont and Wood stirring it in the background. Don?t get me wrong of course Beaumont wants to protect his business but the game can not stand still anymore. For the love of god there is talk of reducing the salary cap, it may aswell go semi pro if they do that. The NRL can generate income surely it?s the way to go.

one of the telling things is the board that hasnt changed apart from the death of Maurice Lindsey, and we wonder why the game hasnt progressed (if thats the right term), but it certainly has regressed in terms of TV deals As a Wigan fan, it will be interesting to see how this pans out. There is no doubt off the field that Wigan and Wire are involved in some forms of discussions, and the game in Vegas probably just added to the conversations as one of the other posters alludes to if Wigan, Wire, Hull, Hull KR are involved in discussions, then its likely Leeds and Saints will follow suit, and it will be interesting to see what sort of role Hetherington is playing in this with his move to London. For too long, he's had the yorkshire clubs playing to his tune to keep the game as it is, so is London are involved he's going to have to change his approach surely

| Reading that the Roosters are interested in buying Salford rebranding them into Manchester Roosters and moving into Manchester. Can’t see that happening, for starters relocate to where exactly.

Struggling. Gigg Lane (Bury) ? Broadhurst Park (FC United) ? The 5K capacity may sell out on the odd occasion. Belle Vue?

| Out of interest, how would we feel if an NRL club came in and offered to buy a share of the Wire? Not sure I would be comfortable with a full takeover, I'd still like Moran to be a majority owner as he'll always have our best interests at heart.
Maybe a 25% stake to someone like Souths / Penrith whom we already have loose ties with may improve the running of the club overall and free up funds for some capital investment in to the stadium / training facilities?

I’d buy it just to get rid of Fitzpatrick.

| Now, there are a number of different thoughts across clubs, with some wanting the rules to be relaxed even further while others believe that would be a bad idea. Now, a proposal and decision is expected to be made at some point next month.
That paragraph is the one that bothers me, the clubs that want it can afford it, and the clubs that can’t don’t. And it’s why the sport in this country is a mess and will never improve if clubs keep on vetoing what does not suit them.

| Is there a danger with relaxing quota rules that SL will eventually finish up as an NRL old timers league to the detriment of bringing our youth through to play in our superleague. Where will the encouragement be for rugby playing kids of the future when Stanley Gene's name could be above their's on the team sheet ?
For another thing, it is about time our game was rebranded ,every sport has hi-jacked "super league" . Get a new came & copyright it.
