| Quote: Or thane "I'd drop Rhys and play Ratchford there. I don't get the whole hype with evans, he never does anything spectacular and doesn't do anything more then what Atkins does. But everyone bags Atkins and never says anything bad about Rhys? So either way drop Evans or Atkins and throw Ratchford in the centres for me.'"
I agree, I think Rhys Evans has a lot to prove and I don't think he was very good defensively on Thursday. I didn't see a lot wrong with ratchfords defence Thursday though. For me Atkins is better than evans, I think the problem with Atkins is we have seen him play so much better in the past, notably when he was partnered with King, maybe he needs a bit of a leader next to him to be at his best?

| Evans or Atkins to be replaced by Ratch, both of them are poor, ideally to partner Penny, getting to ball to the pace outside gives the opposition plenty to think about rather than plundering up the middle. Gidley if fit simply has to partner Sandow, Dwyer is easily good enough to back up Clark and when Clark is fit we need Dwyer on the bench to prevent burnout.

Is that potentially his level then? Did well against a championship side? Just playing devils advocate.....

Ratchford was awful for the Salford try when they dove over from AHB. Completely messed up.
I don't think he has earned a shirt yet.

Back using footwork to stand up a prop.
Ratchford has a history of switching off in defence at crucial times, he needs to focus. He is admittedly a lot better than he used to be though.

| Great thread chaps. Anyone else we haven't blamed yet?
IMO the last 21 mins v Salford is the arguably the best slice of rugby Wire have played this season and possibly the last two prior, and the team contained every player that is getting slated on this thread.
Credit where due, more of the same please Wire.

| I think Tom lineham was very quiet lol
Joking aside at least we are discussing decent player combinations. We have strength in depth this year rather than debating no options and poor performances, we should not forget that fact, be positive we have options. Most people have been posting positive constructive criticism, not slating players.

The first half was the worst we have defended since smith took over(discounting the first game at london). Salford werent splitting us open with superb rugby as they were against saints. They were just falling over our line with alarming ease

He ran through the middle of them both, both equally culpable, awful attempt from both of them.

Nobody he said he missed the tackle he stepped out and didn't even commit thus allowing the Salford player to dive over. One of the softest tries you will see us concede this season.
Schoolboy error.

Devil's advocate or not, Evan now is a better centre than Atkins now.

| 39 tackles suggests he was pretty switched on in defence, I appreciate there are lies, damned lies and statistics...
