Yeah he sure is, we all know he gives 150% and when you watch it back in the cold light of day (i.e. not in the heat of the moment watching Richards race towards the try line), it is clear that Mathers' contribution is top notch.

So two mistakes and he is crap?? Wind your neck in are you a fan or do you just go to the big games? Mathers has been excellent all season.

I don't know why you are saying this to me, I have given Mathers nothing but support and have never criticised him!

Look at my first post on this thread, I was saying that Latin phrase on our shirts that says "A wolf does not bite another wolf" AKA you won't catch me slagging off one of our team under almost any circumstances.

The point I was making is that it is acceptable (in my opinion) for people to have maybe said things about Mathers in the heat of the moment after his mistake which led to a try HOWEVER if you look back at the game (and his season in general) you will see that he is a great player who brings much more good than bad to our team.

How many times has Richie turned a player over in the in goal area and prevented a try ? If that stat actually existed i'd stretch my neck out and say he'd be leading it

All I have tried to do is present a balance. I was just saying that things might have been said about Mathers during the heat and passion of the match which it is OKAY in my opinion.



However I agree with you, Mathers is a player who brings a great amount to the team. As others have said, I fully expect the statistics to reflect this. Anyone would be mad to suggest that he is a bad player and not an asset to our team.

Naaah only a small minority. I took a look at what people had been saying to Mathers after the match and for every bad comment there were at least 50 good ones.

No he hasn't... He had a purple patch of about 5 games when the hidgson signing was announced... To say he has been excellent all season is ridiculous... He has made to many silly errors and is undoubtedly a weak link.

I wish him all the best at cas... But he isn't in the same class as hodgson... Infact it isn't even close.

Exactly, he is one of those players who does the little important things really really well. I know he can do the big important things too, but I think his main strength is in the little tinkering and organising at the back.

Correct, I am trying to be as constructive as possible and looking at his technique, can't fault his enthusiasm but to be fair he is probably the weakest player in our current first choice line-up.

And he hasn't been excellent all season, in three of the last four games (Leeds, Crusaders and Wigan) he has been pretty dire.

I just hope he can hold it together and not cost the team in the knock-out games.

I didn't say that you said Mathers has made alot of errors all seaosn so I said that Hodgson has made double more errors than Mathers has.

I hope it doesn't happen... But my biggest fear is him doing something that costs us a big game in the play offs.... It almost cost us on Friday night.
