| I'll pull it in another way...
did the players want too work for cullen...
the players walked back when going from defence too attack at quiet alot of games under cullen. Sometimes taking 3 or 4 tackles too have a attacking line..
Fast forward too tony Smith... We have energy and all players are in a attacking line from tackle 1.

| He is not having a go at Warrington. He is having a go at the fans that boo, if you want to watch a winning team watch Warrington.
I completely agree with Geordie. Cullen is a good coach and took us from a relegation threatened team to playoffs in a short time.
Unfortunately he is not a great coach and could not take us to the next level which Smith has done.

| Why would he be bitter?
Booing him is one thing, standing outside main reception and throwing very personal insults at him in front of his kids is another.
I wouldn't have blamed him for going outside and pasting the lot of you, but then again you'd have probably ran off by the time the door opened.
Him being bitter is very understandable because he is a genuine and honest bloke.
As for the board not backing him, well they never backed Jimmy either but because they head hunted Smith then they will of course give him anything he wants.

| I read it as; Warrington boo there team when things don't go their way so if that's your attitude, you will be at home there with them.
He's on borrowed time there now i tell thee.

| Quote: Foz "And like it or not it was Cullen's team that won the challenge cup not Tony Smith's.'"
I always thought Tony Smith was overrated. Wins the Grand Final with Daryl Powell's team at Leeds and then comes in to Warrington and steals Cullen's to win the Challenge Cup.
Mind you I suppose Cullen got the credit for Plange's team keeping us up in 2002......Nat Wood, Westwood, Appo who brought these guys in? We should never forget Plange for saving us when all seemed lost.

They never backed Lowes because we were bottom of the league. If we start next season like we started 2009 and are rooted to the bottom by Easter, don't be surprised if Tony Smith leaves the club by 'mutual consent'.

| As everyone thinks TS is the best thing since the invention of the game i'll throw this one in...
The best coach in the world right now is still probably Craig Bellamy, the most successful is Wayne Bennett.
Craig Bellamy cannot buy a win for NSW so does this immediately make him a bad coach, the answer is no so what is really important a good set of players or a good coach.
Everyone is basing their assessments on simple games won and lost. Last years challenge cup success was partly down to good planning and partly down to luck, look at Catalans run this year.
I'm not saying TS is not a good coach, he obviously is.

| i think that our cc success is mostly down to TS as he gave us a positive atmosphere and got the players playing as a team not as individuals and the future of wire will be down to TS not PC

| Quote: Geordie "Oh how short some of your'e memories are!!
In 2002 Paul Cullen was a god with Warrington Fans, he had done the unthinkable and kept us up after the dark days of Anderson and Plange.
He then went on to take us to the playoffs for the first time on a squad whos combined wages where the 3rd lowest in the league.
He helped lead us to the HJ and assembled a quality side that played some of the best attacking rugby I had ever seen, unfortunatley they couldn't defend as well.
Ok things turned sour, what if Paul Cullen had wanted to implement some of the things that TS has since he came in but the board didnt allow him or wouldnt back him. Paul Cullen wanted shot of M Gleeson but the clubs directors wouldnt let him, smith comes in and it happens within weeks. None of us will ever know if Cullen could have acheived what TS has with the same support and backing.
I read the comments as if you want to boo go to Warrington where their is little to boo at. Remeber the game against Leeds where all the young lads had to play, Warrington Fans certainly didnt boo their efforts at any point.
Cullen didnt take us to the next level,TS has but as Warrington fans we still have an awful lot to thank Paul Cullen for.'"
oh how short they are geordie,
i seem to remember you beating your drum at that cas game to the tune of "we want cullen out"
cull is a wire, always has been always will be.

Now the fans of his new club boo. The link between the two? The one.............the only...................Paul Cullen!'"
I take it you didn't make the trip to London for the Harlequins game last year??

These are laudable sentiments Geordie and I agree with some of them but TS has done far more than just get rid of Gleeson. I do not believe for one minute that PC would have achieved what TS has in the same time period because he is not as capable as a coach. Also you talk of attacking rugby - I would argue we play even more attacking rugby now under TS.

Both. We had one (team) without the other (coach) for years until Tony Smith turned up.

I think you will find that I certainly did not, I walked away from all of that not beleiving what was going on and was not involved at all.
