Ho back two years to when we signed mulhern and butler and see how that panned out

| Quote: Nantwich One "Mulhern was unlucky and doing fine at leigh'" plenty on here denounced his signing, and said he wasn't good enough.
I've said it myself on here before, the board/club are on a hiding to nothing on recruitment and with fans hindsight.

| I wasn't one of his deriders and there's better English options than jack Hughes but it doesn't excuse the over reliance on overseas players who are off the first sign of boredom with grey clouds and it's that policy that we actually need the foresight to review

| What's the deal with longstaff's loan? Are we allowed to bring him back this season?

This is the cycle though.
We need to sign English players who won't get homesick, good value English grafters.
Club signs English grafters.
Its a joke why are we signing these nobodies, we used to sign nrl International under Smith, what are we wasting money on.
Signs nrl veterans
WHAT ARE WE SIGNING THESE FOR??
repeat until the end of time

| Or until we win the GF. Admittedly the end of time may come first.

That's the point ... We look to sign big names to almost compensate it seems for coaching limitations....Powell used to get a lot more game time skill out of journeymen at cas but now he has a checkbook and a player list based on marketing from the CEO designed to whip up the emotional heights before the grounding lows ... Warrington is my club but these days I actually prefer watching the rugby being played with "less" at Salford

Because of the salary cap the days when clubs signed top NRL players are gone, so you either have to sign players towards the end of their career or fringe players (who are often young).

Marketing? Wtf?
Someone mentioned frankie Halton as a signing, if we'd signed him over half of the users on this board would have gone spare over it.
You dont think they have issues over recruitment at Salford? With players leaving over the last couple of years to join Watson at Huddersfield, and the Tyler dupree saga currently going on?

And there in lies the problem ... We look for big name signings to pacify the supporters and no I didnt say that Salford dont periodically have problems with recruitment with Dupree an example .. what I did say however was good coaching such as at Salford can get a tune out of players ,supporters here would scoff at if suggested ,but ones that may offer value and more importantly hang around long enough to change from their winter to summer clothing

It was me, and just for context, what I said was that although Halton wouldn't have been a flash signing, he would have given us good cover at second row, at a time when we need it, which I stick by. If others disagree, that's fine.

Also for context, id have been, kinda ok with it, hesitant as he only appears to have been playing SL for a season and a half.
the Extreme views horde that we have in our support base...would not.
