Your statistics are right in one sense but also very wrong. Numbers can be twisted to show whatever statistic you want to work in your favor don't forget. COVID-19 actually has a mortality rate of 2% of that 2%, 15% of the people who have died were over the age of 80 and of that 15%, those without a pre-existing medical condition (comorbidities) have a 0.9% chance of passing from the Virus.

This link should shed a lot of light. rlhttps://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-age-sex-demographics/rl

We has all this with Bird Flu, Swine Flu, Spanish Flu, SARS, MERS, Ebola... All of which came to nothing. Wash your hands regularly, Keep calm and carry on.

Worse ground in UK SuperLeague for away fans (Never been to Toronto).

We need to take Coronavirus very seriously. Plenty of fit young people have died from it, particularly health workers. I know three or four people who work for the NHS and don't want them put at risk. The self quarantining and basic hygiene advice is very important, but there will still be plenty of arrogant people thinking they are medical experts or too important to be affected and completely ignoring the advice and helping it to spread.

It's nothing to worry about on a daily basis tobacco the roads n mental health issues kill more people than corona.

The Spanish flu infected 500m globally and only killed 20-30m so far corona is bring massively exaggerated.

Flu kills somewhere between 10-30 thousand in the UK each year.

It's not just the Coronavirus that's a threat.

I think what most governments are trying to do is slow down the spread of the virus. But by taking quite drastic isolation measures it may appear as though we are panicking over something that is similar to flu and only kills 2-3% of those infected. It needs to be successful however because;

1. It will allow time to develop, test and mass produce a vaccine which will save a lot of lives and control the spread of future outbreaks.

2. An unchecked spread of CV (and we now know its 5 times more infectious than flu) would lead to the NHS being swamped by those people who have a severe reaction to the virus. The NHS already has long (5 hr at my local hospital) waiting lists at A&E and simply couldn't cope with eg 1-200,000 extra (respiratory) patients over a short period of time. Again, a lot of people would die needlessly, routine operations will be cancelled, road accidents may wait long times to get an ambulance etc etc

3. A global pandemic would shut down industries and supply chains across the world and lead to a severe recession. Have a look at what stock markets are currently doing on BBC business (market data) in the face of extremely small numbers of people getting infected in the US and Europe (few hundreds).

Its not simply about our personal chances of infection and symptoms, the problem runs wider than that.

just IMO

This. Not only is it a more deadly and contagious version of the flu, it'll cause huge economic repercussions.

For all you peeps booking trips abroad - or if youve already made arrangements - make sure your travel insurance covers coronavirus, or more generally pandemics. Most basic policies don't.
I'm going though the travel insurance loop at the moment and am knack***ed from sorting it out. Taken all day......

A bit more about RL and the virus;

https://www.warringtonguardian.co.uk/ne ... -outbreak/

"Players are being advised to avoid handshakes and signing autographs among other things to help contain the spread of coronavirus".

I don't think we need to worry too much about this one though atm
