| just like he missed the clear offside by briers and gave him his try without consulting his tj or going upstairs, would definately have been chalked off, you would have lost..wire constantly moving off the mark at the ptb..at one point oloughlin complained about it when he forced a knock on and silverwood said yes i would have penalised them if you hadnt of tackled him.
So just cos someone forces a knock on and they get scrum means he didnt penalise wire..wigan could have had ball further downfield.
Warringotn have won there last 2 games with massive help by the refs..aliberts 7 tackles and silverwoods clear cut undermining his tj who disallowed the try..as much as i hate leeds they are gonna win sl again this year..wire look very saints like at mo.

| The worst was Richards' no try, he was clearly in touch and the touch judge had told him, yet he still decided to go to the screen. What's the point in having a touch judge really?

Just ignore what happened for your 2nd and 3rd tries then! Both should never have been allowed.
'Look very Saints like at mo?' - Correct me if I am wrong but I think we have actually won a game recently!

It was a try, Silverwood was 11/12 metres back and Briers was 1 metre ahead. Onside, try.

| Indeed, some Wigan fans have been duped by the Sky attempts to invalidate the try.

| It's alright though, we got every 50/50 call so we were obviously going to win...
Quote: pie eater and proud of it "Do we ever get any 50/50 decisions in our favour ? Especially ones that count ?
Wire got a penalty for us not being square, kickable position with seconds to go before half time, yet they werent square in similar positions and were not penalised.
OK, we werent square then, but where is the consistency ?
Briers, well he was clearly offside for his interception try, they dont go to the screen.
Wigan score, and its screen time. How can we prevent this Wigan try say the officals.
Frustrated and annoyed but content in the knowledge that Wire beat us home and away last season, finished top and under the current system won nothing of value.
It aint over til its over.'"

Isn't it funny how you see based on your bias, I have it just the opposite. Numerous penalties to Wigan in front of the sticks, offsides flouted, head shots galore, interference at play the ball, every Wigan try a referee's gift, tc etc

Spot on the TV coverage clearly shows Silverspud had took the Wire def back 12 metres from the PTB so Briers was on side

| Erm im a bradford fan, so no bias at all..doesnt matter if ref is 11 or 12m back, to be onside you have to be back with the ref..no ref can guess bang on 10m every time..the rule is you get back level with the ref otherwise your offside.
Yeah wigan would be wakey..both teams beaten by the refs rather than by warrington.

We had one dubious try given, Wigan had two and could easily have had a man sent off. How exactly were they beaten by the ref?

If that's the case why take the def back 11/12 metres why not stick to the standard 10 metres?
All refs do it, Silverspud had no excuses in this instance as the PTB was 2 metres behind the 30 metre line but he took the def line back to the 40 metre line (12 metres). So by the rules Briers was 10 metres away from the PTB and onside

| Genuine question. Can someone explain why Briers is off side.
Silverwood, like most refs take the players back more than 10. Let us say 11 in this instance. Briers was arguably less than 1 metre ahead of Silverwood, so that makes him 10 metres behind the play the ball.
Yes he is offside in the fact that he is ahead of Silverwood. But refs allows players to be in front of them all the time. The reason is because as long as they aren't too far in front they are still more than 10 behind. Though I guess they run the risk of being penalised.

| I need to learn to read!! Sorry, already discussed.
On another point, if the Farrell tackle was complete then he was interferred with, and should have been a Wigan pen.
Though he still played the ball incorrectly, so the ref should have blown. Just because the opposition infringed doesn't mean it is play on. It wouldn't be play on if he knocked on, when being impeded.
Silverwood was terrible, which made the game a bit of a lottery. All in all I think Wigan got more 50/50 calls, but still managed to lose against a Warrington side nowhere near top form. Got to be encouraged by that!
