Big test v Hudds next week. If we lose though, it's only the 2nd game and there's lost of development to go. As long as the effort's in like tonight, then there's much hope.

Darlings of Super League:

Very encouraging. I don't think Leeds put our more vulnerable areas out wide under any pressure at all, so not getting too excited just yet. But we completely destroyed them in the middle of the field.

Very very good display.
First half almost faultless.
A bit sloppy in the 2nd half, but understandable. (Mikaele switched off For the 2nd try).
Not good about Nicholson.

Vaughan was immense, truly immense. Bullock made massive yards. Harrison and Kasiano caused Leeds all sorts of problems.
Great to see.
Don't think anyone had a poor game.

Leeds blown away from early on and could never recover.
They look light in the pack compared to us.

Too early to get too excited, but it's a hell of a lot better than last years win in the first match where the quality level was appalling.

I'm reyt ed off they kept him so long for the interviews, he missed what would have been an amazing walk around, he's a machine, him Harrison, bullock and kasiano were great tonight

Speaking of vulnerability out wide, I was really impressed by matty ashtons defence tonight. On that showing he won't be a defensive weak link.

Was going to post this earlier. Perfect technique on some big guys. No wonder they rate him behind the scenes.

Vaughny was the leader we've been missing. It was as much of the unspoken things as the comms he was doing. I don't think it'll be a conflict with Ratch, noted he was calling for 2 early doors but was overruled.

Fair play to Tommy M too, looked trim and a great option at starting prop. The yards we were making was refreshing to see.

Think Powell will point at the first 20 of the 2nd half and want them to push more....unless they were trying a game management phase, turn over on their line X times in a row

All in all great performance and comical to see Myler have such a stinker.

It's been too long, but it finally feels like we've got our Wire back. That first half was magnificent, and Vaughan was just exceptional.

Great Display from us all round, energy and drive across the team. Great first round from us and hopefully it continues.
Vaughan and Bullock were unreal, but all the forwards did great for us. Just a very happy man at the minute icon_smile.gif

One swallow and all that, but it's a level of performance that we've been waiting for for quite some time, way too long, really.

Leeds were poor. but it's amazing what a difference playing on the front foot makes. The game's a lot easier playing in the opposition half without having to deal with kick pressure.

Drinkwater and Williams look like a balanced pair, and everyone's mentioned the standout pack performers, but the biggest plus for me was that we seem to have a TEAM .

Onwards and hopefully upwards

Impressive start from the Wire. You looked very sharp and your pack was excellent, which it's not been during Super League at least. Vaughn looks a special player and I think he'll thoroughly enjoy Super League, it suits him down to the ground. He was good in the NRL, but with the generally smaller packs in Super League he'll thrive. Drinkwater and Williams look as good a partnership as you've had in the halves as well. Good times ahead, certainly in with a shout this year on that evidence. I'll caveat that a little until you play someone half decent as that Leeds lineup and performance was amongst the worst I've seen in Super League. They have recruited horrifically this season again, whoever is in charge of that at Leeds is doing a terrible job. They simply don't have a pack, even if you throw Oledzski and Bentley in, it's not going to lift things much. Myler is awful, years beyond his best and nowhere near Super League level, embarssing from him tonight. How they've not dealt with Tetavano and Fusitua yet either is beyond me, neither have any interest in being there.

But Wire's recruitment and battalion of new signings were not the most impressive thing about you tonight. I thought you'd recruited well and expected an improvement over last season. But I wasn't expecting the level of fitness and conditioning that was evident tonight. That was the most impressive thing about that display. You looked like a team battle hardened and hitting play off speed. You didn't do all that much in terms of elaborate rugby first half, you were just so much sharper and intense than Leeds and they couldn't cope. I suspect Wigan will be bricking it, they'd expected to take over from Saints this year, but your pack will liklely obliterate theirs. Throwing all their eggs in the Field and French basket rather than signing two big props looks a big mistake.

Hopefully Huddersfield are equally impressive and we could end up with a proper multi-team battle at the top of the table this year.

Well done to all involved, all the positivity for Leeds after the GF appearance looks a little premature. Their 9 signings against our six for this season had gulf in quality. Sezer, Austin and Myler looked clueless.

Agreed with all this. But i was impressed with Warringtons line speed when defending, Saints and Wigan do it the best.
Looking good Warrington, hope you and Paul V can keep it up icon_eek.gif

Fair play, a verybalanced view. Obviously Much bigger tests to come!
