| This is all getting a little Sin Bin ish, isn't it?
To class it as good publicity......well, is it?.
Johnson turns up at places, 3 or 4 times a day. PMs do this. It's routine. I've not seen this as either good or bad publicity for the club. It's chip paper, now, anyway
The thread has now turned into a whinge fest for people who don't like the fella. I couldn't give two ####'# for him.
Considering the amount of threads that have been locked over the years, when there's been genuine debate, I'm surprised this hasn't gone the same way. This is just political grandstanding for anyone left of centre.....and before anyone starts, I'm a 52 year old bloke, who's had the opportunity to vote in 8 General Elections and countless local elections, and I've never put a cross next to a Tory's name

| Well said, Lefty. It's a total non-issue (from a lifelong Labour voter).

| The fact of the matter is that it’s Warrington RLFC who have politicised themselves and lost credibility in this poorly judged fawning over this despicable individual.
Therefore they have invited whatever criticism comes their way because of their own actions.
Warrington RLFC should apologise to the decent members of their support base , and RL supporters in general

| Politicised? We had a Labour member of the House of Lords as Chairman for years. I think we've had Alistair Campbell down at matches too - some childish people would say he aided and abetted a war criminal.

Grow up. They don't need to apologise for anything.
If you're that outraged about politicians and their morals & behaviour, then go and ask our local Labour MP about having to be taken off a flight to Gibraltar in a wheelchair, (while on public duty) because her and her politician friends had their snouts in the freebies trough.

That's all ridiculously hyperbolic . . .
But what if Johnson's warm welcome ultimately leads to him giving the green light for a new hospital in Warrington? Should the club still apologize then? Life isn't black and white.

I gather you're unaware there's a campaign to build a new hospital in Warrington?

Yes Doug Hoyle was on the board but in a non political sense as a supporter and in honour of his many years service to the town, just as Andy Carter might one day be if he does 4/5 terms.
And also when Warrington RLFC go to Big finals they always invite the local dignitaries mayor, council leader etc regardless, or are you saying that to is political?
Additionally these people are all fundamentally decent, whereas Boris Johnson is a lying scoundrel

Well at least try and keep it civil
Nice deflection regards the poor judgement of Warrington RLFC in dishonouring the shirt and club in their association with Boris Johnson, but if I remember correctly the Warrington North MP explained the circumstances as unexpected reaction to medication she had been prescribed, but did apologise in any case Are you equating the two situations?
But if your so outraged about the incident you could always start a thread in the sin bin :

Whataboutary Jack
Warrington should have had a new hospital years ago but for Tory cuts to the NHS and local government.
Again the facts are you can choose between moral/lmmoral, ethical/unethical, decent/indecent, truthful/serial liar . We know which side of the line Boris Johnson sits, and where Warrington RLFC have allied themselves. Which side of the line do you sit Jack as a matter of interest?
