Our last match under him, was a 0-19 hammering, where we were lucky to get 0.
Maybe we've got a touch of the old Dunkirk Spirit about us, now.

Charnley will do well to retain that right wing berth.'"
Never drop a try scorer, even if my dead granny could've scored both

| Clark was out of sorts. Walker wasn’t perfect but provided much more energy and speed of distribution. Hopefully it’s a one-off from Clark, as he rarely has a bad game.
One thing I found really interesting is that Pryce (I think) or Amor was tipping Walker to be the England hooker come the World Cup.
Regarding Charnley, Thewlis could easily have scored both those tries and probably defended the Leeds try from the kick. He’s also handy if Ratchford gets injured mid-game.
Wrench, despite the mistakes, looks a potential match winner.

Moral victory though for Leeds.
Wire Saints and Wigan. All 2 points. There’s your 3 for 2022.

| The determination & enthusiasm from the Leeds team was immense with every one of them desperate to do their best with every run or tackle & it made a difference to both teams yardage gains. Dwyer caused all sorts of problems.

| Entertaining game which I suppose is the most important thing, what with the C4 rollout.
Congrats on the win, neither side was great but all the signs were there that both will get better.

| We looked like a collection of players rather than a team, I really thought we would be better than that even though a fair way from the finished article. As everybody else has probably said we look to be one high quality prop short with both Bullock and Mulhern ( still) looking like interchange props. That is going to come home to roost when we meet the likes of the Catalan and Saints packs.
I thought Leeds showed far more grit, determination and energy than we did. Wrench provided the money ball for Widdop's try and took his try well albeit against a very tired and fragmented defence but I didn't expect him to make 2-3 schoolboy errors. Pity, but he still looks as though he is capable of becoming a first choice centre.
Hopefully we will see a much improved team performance against Castleford next week then we can get a better idea of our likely standing in this years comp.

| No doubt about it we should have buried Leeds with an extra man for an hour and it was an incredible performance from them.
However I will take that.
A lot of talk from Powell in pre season about dealing with pressure but looks like there is still a lot of work to be done in that are as we still look to force things when we are under the pump.
Based on the new concussion rules it looks like D Clark will be missing for the Cas game

| I guess it will be recovery, a few skills/drills and practicing the game plan verses Cas, but mainly lots of recovery.
Probably the only changes could be Hughes (if fit) replacing Daryl (head injury) and King (if fit) replacing Wrench (who had a good match today imo except for a wayward pass to Ashton that really should have resulted in a try)

| Il take that all day long, had us down for a loss but a win is a win. Still same concerns as others we will get found out up front eventually, unless Harrison and Magoulis bring something when fit. Bentley what to say about him other than Leeds would of better off leaving him at Saints.

| Wasn't expecting to win, so good to find a way to win being 10 points down, though we really didn't deserve the win. Thought our marking and line speed at the play the ball was awful, giving Leeds got a lot of cheap yards from dummy half. This is the main issue from todays game that needs addressing. Thought we had the good, the bad and the really dumb (passing with just seconds to the hooter after his break away) from Wrench. Still think he's a quality player and a first team regular for the future. Cooper was immense in the last 20 minutes and made a lot of tough yards, but our pack was second best, as I thought it would be. Bentley was my MotM. The rebuilding and remodelling from the SP era has a fair way to go.

| It'll take time for DP to get the players playing in the way he wants, and for the players to be comfortable playing that way.
It's really early days.
Doing the skills in training is one thing, in the first match when under pressure another - very different.
Forward power is an obvious issue.
Bullock seemed to be on only for a short period.
Joe didnt make as much impact as he usually does either, but still it's just the first game.

| Just an additional point, that conversion from Ratchford in those conditions with the scores tied was sensational.

Monitoring outside for the people inside: |
|
| Despite what Alex Murphy says, the best team lost today, I'll admit it. However how many times has it happened to us against Saits, Wigan and Leeds and we've been told that our victors "know how to play for 80 minutes", "the cream rises to the top", "know how to play the conditions", so I don't feel any sympathy for Leeds at all.
The new rules protecting players heads are understandable but once a player goes off, it kills the game, and you can bet that we will be on the wrong end sometime in the season (good job Lineham's gone).
Some stupid, silly errors today. Even in the last few seconds we were trying to let Leeds nick it. Come on Wire, use your heads.
In summary, a win is a win, but lots of improvement needed. Roll on Thursday.

Post of the day.
I don't get previous posters saying "we didn't deserve to win".
YES WE DID.
We scored two more points than them, and one more try than them. That is a deserved win in my book. Leeds' indiscipline is their funeral. The ref got both calls correct.
As a golfer, there's a famous phrase used when you get a scruffy par..... "there's no pictures on a scorecard".
I've said before about British sporting mentality, there's too much praise for the plucky loser. You won't catch an Aussie coming out with such guff. #### Leeds and their perceived "better side lost" attitude.
Onwards, Wire.
