Have you seen a typical St Helens family tree?
They're very narrow.'"
That's what I mean, it's more of a Reed than a tree.

| The attention seeking teenager puts it across in a bit of a manner which is all too mature for me, he does have a point.
Until we win the big one, we are just “also ran” names. Cas, Salford and Hull have just as much pedigree as us in the principal competition, which boils down to nothing unless you win it.
A cup win gives us a day in the sun, and we enjoyed it, but the sting should still be there when it comes to us not being a “big club” and the “it’s always your year”. We have taken that last one on as an ironic chant, but it’s embarrassing. Until we win it, those things should always sting, not just us but the players.

| If we eventually do win superleague though, does that mean we need to be disrespectful to those other clubs as though we are lordly and they have no pedigree?
I'd like to think not, that would make us classless imbeciles like our visiting friend.
Let's not forget this is a sport where top clubs have had far too much power and principally that power has been held by the 3 sides that have won it the most, I believe its one of the main reasons the game is on its backside. There are barriers to other clubs winning that must be overcome, we have jumped most of those off field hurdles (by joining the club so to speak) just need to take the final step. Annoyingly we have wasted the last 3 years worth of opportunity with a hopeless head coach.

Some mindless idiots will, yes. Every successful team picks up their collection of Steph Curry’s/King James etc. along the way, people who pull the tags of their freshly purchased replica kit on the way to the final itself, without knowing what is going on or what the rules are. It’s the nature of the beast.
Somewhere, there will be a nucleus of Saints fans that don’t have the same arrogance of the rest of the pillocks, as they are there to support their team, not to try and wind up others. They just get drowned out by people in their mums back bedroom typing messages on here in between bouts of self romance.

| Self romance ha ha
I'd like to think we'd be gracious in victory yes we'd make the most of the Final itself especially if was against a Wigan or Saints but to carry on and on being ungracious wouldn't sit well with me

The opportunity of having this as an option to perhaps try out, would be most welcome.

| I'd like to see Hughes at 13 just as a solid defender up the middle, with Holmes taking the 12 shirt next season.
Ashton with the number 1 shirt and Ratchford as maybe a utility player on the bench.
I've got no issues with King and think he isn't overhyped as he is quality and can't wait to see what powell can do with us next season.

He could be brought on at 2nd row in games we are winning comfortably with 20 mins to go, just to protect our centres and wingers.

| With the thread titled " Strange things of '21", I think the Patton thread should come under it.
it wouldn't surprise me if we get to '29, and Patton threads still appear. Time to move on.

Agree about Hughes & Ratchford but I think Thewlis should get the no 1 shirt, he's just a better prospect at full back for me. Ashton can play on the wing for me.

That’s how I see it with Ashton having a brief allowing him to come infield to support offloads. Either that or he does a HUGE amount of catching practice.
