| Quote: Old Timer No 4 "Unfortunately for us(KR) we will be seriously short on first choice players, which is a shame because I genuinely think with the first choices available(and fit) we could have given any team a real fright..However, it is what it is and we are glad to be here, and for us it's been far too long. This should be your game, but we live in hope as opposed to expectation for this one. Hope it's a good game and not a walkover. You should win and expect you to as you will probably have too much strike power for us.
Next year will be very telling, just hope we can build on this year. You lot know all about TS and what he brings, we're glad he,s with us. I am old school and seen success before and want it back, and still think we are two quality signings short to challenge the top four, but hey, we are happy so far.
Hope the score is close, strange things happen sometime.'"
We've had the likes of Dean Sampson, and others, that have come out of retirement to make the numbers up for our opponents, and have struggled against them. Rugby isn't played on paper, and a win has to earned with respect for possession, discipline and 1-17 putting a shift in.
Hope it's an enjoyable and open game.

| No doubt KR can win this one, even with a few players out.
If we go in with the right mentality then it could be an easy-ish night for us.
But so often we haven't done and probably won't do again. I think it'll be close.

| If Hull KR's off the cuff stuff comes off, it's almost impossible to defend against. The left hand side attack with Linnett, Kenny-Dowell and Hall would have given us problems; Hall is a big miss. Abdull can be great if his kicking game is on.
However, if our pack gets us on top and we get quick play the balls, then even without D Clark, the quality of Ratchford and the two Ws with an in form Currie and speed of Mamo (and possibly Ashton) would be more than enough.
Then again, we may have one of our nosebleeds and limp out again.

| Can't see anything but a Warrington win here.
Oh wait, this is Warrington we are talking about.......
On paper and with the injuries HKR have - even with their offloading - there should only be one result.

Agree with this, we need to show Hull KR a lot of respect, they've earnt it this season.
We should win but losing on Friday would leave familiar feelings in light of our recent playoff history.

You’re lucky to have him mate, enjoy it. Our (wire) best ever coach for sure.

The "Blackball Bullet " was a great coach. Signed a 10 year contract with you back in the 50's and you had a decent decade alongside Hull FC who also thrived in that decade coached by one of your ex players.

| I think we should be on red alert for this one. TS knows that they won’t ordinarily win an upfront “play off style” arm wrestle so will be getting the trick book out.
I think Price will stay true to Plan A and try and grind them down, but momentum can be a funny thing. If they get to a good start they can rattle up some points quickly, it’s about how well we can address that and reverse the momentum.
I’m a card carrying member of the Tony Smith fan club, and ordinarily would look forward to watching HKR as they play some really good rugby times, but this week scares me a bit.

| You just know TS will try some “chicanery”* to disrupt us. Think George King short kick off etc. The trick is to withstand the whirlwind at the start!
* not meant in a derogatory way

| I think one thing we can probably count on is a relatively open game with some good rugby as TS doesn't promote dubious tactics and foul play. May be a high scoring game this one.

It might well be, but I think it would make sense to treat it as a dry run for the semi and play our rusty defensive game. That might appear a bit boring but if we get through methinks we will need to complete 90% of our sets and leave no defensive gaps to get to the final.

I agree, it doesn't have to be defensive but priority one should be working them over in the middle of the field (where we should have a clear advantage) and winning the energy battle. If we get into a game of short kick offs and chip-overs we are very much in their territory and could come unstuck.

| Its a shame but i think the scale of our injuries will just be to big for us to front up. Quinlan, Ryan, Hall, Minikin, Mincella, Lawler, Hadley, Maher, Vete and Parcell would all have started had they been fit, a team with a squad like yours would struggle with that number out, we just dont have the depth to cope, hence the result at Leeds. Smith will have to go full blown plan B off the cuff to stand a chance and the downside of that is we could easily see a big score posted against us. I hope not but if we get out of this losing by less than 20 I'd be relatively happy.
