Nutley isn't better than any of our current pack. Typical wire, making a hero out of a bang average player.

He played State of Origin and was one of the top props in the NRL. Not one of our current front row would be able to play at that standard.

| Nutley was very decent - certainly the equal of any prop we have right now.
Nikau, though past his best with us, was still better than Jason Clark. And any second rower in our last 40 years could offer more than Ben Currie does since his injury.
Throw in that BMM isn't capable of putting in an 80 minute display and you have to start to wonder if talk of us having a top level pack is actually true - Daryl Clark is head and shoulders above everybody else in the side, never mind the pack.
Our half backs might indeed need to be behind a strong pack, but sometimes it is upto them to take a grip themselves - too many of our team seem to lack confidence to actually lead... flat track bullies sadly springs to mind. All fine if things fall into place, but first sign of adversity and they shrivel off into their shells and look to find excuses.
Sadly, I think this all stems from the man laying the plans and he needs to be seriously looked at with regards to his position at the club.

Does anybody actually think we have a top level pack?
We've had this excuse of "playing behind a beaten pack" for three seasons now and we haven't recruited any significant forwards.
Hill, Cooper and Currie are past their best though they were all very good players at one point.
BMM, Philbin - good on their day.
Jason Clark - like Asotasi, a player who Souths moved on for a reason.
The interchange fodder - lower table SL calibre at best, possibly Championship.
Daryl Clark is the only real class act.
With our pack, Price might have even overachieved, winning a Challenge Cup and getting to 3 out of 4 finals since he's been here.

| I raised the subject about our pack in the Price out thread. As my mates in the South stand will testify I've said for a few years our props don't take us forward like other teams but are picked because they play long minutes hence the reason we always have to resort to the up and under on the opponents 40 yd line where the opposition seem to have us defending on our 10 after their set of 6. How we managed to nil Saints barely a month ago is baffling. We even had Louis Johnson as replacement prop on Friday! However at least he looks more bothered than the rest....he reminds me of Wedge. You might not like Sita but at least he makes an impact and scatters a few of the opposition. Long season ahead.

Spot on. An ageing/deteriorating front row that needed some attention for the last couple of years.

| An ongoing problem with the Wire is that too many teams make more ground than us on their sets of six so we get the ball back in the wrong part of the field.
On Friday our attack consisted of nothing more than lateral passing movements with no one having the drive to take a chance on breaking the defensive line.

And spot on again.
I been saying it for a couple of seasons now.
And as well as that, there is a lot of cap tied up there on long term contracts, which just isn’t giving value for money, and wants better using.
Hill and Cooper need moving on, Clark needs a dose of Widnes.

Our defence doesn't move up quickly enough and this allows opposition to make up many easy yards over the course of the match. It also means that players like Hurrell are hitting our line at speed.

Johnson is very Wainwright like, maybe a move to second row could be great for him?
And yeah our bench isn't great at all, better now that Philbin is on the bench but not a great bench week in week out. I'd much rather have Sita than Burrell on the bench. Burrell plays what about 20 mins a game from what i see of him, so i'd rather have Sita skittling players for 20 mins than Burrell ambling about. I pray to God Latu will be the forward we've been crying out for the past 5 -6 years but i REALLY don't think he's gonna do much for us at all.
