| Well for me - ok we lost - and again gave away a few stupid pens but i actually quite enjoyed that and it WAS good to see some new faces.
Ratch was top draw, and excellent performance from Matt Davis and Lama T
Given we lost 2 players early on and then BMM later on I thought we did pretty well and played with some spirit.
We've got some good youngsters, but I have to say that Saints youngsters are really good.
It's certainly tough at the moment.

| Quite literally men against boys. At least we was in it for much of the first half...it was always going to be a 30 to Saints.
Disappointed with Ratchford's boot. I couldn't understand why we constantly kick deep from a restart when chasing the game and in contrast Thompson kicked of either touchline with ease.

To win. Simple as. In any game, ever.
Plenty of mitigating circumstances tonight but people are acting like we played against a world class team, we didn't.

| meh.... cant fault the effort... However, we were easily beaten by an under strength saints team, that never really had to get out of 2nd gear.
hard to take any positives from the game really.

Tad harsh. If Price hadn’t been so obstinate and let him play a few games then perhaps his fitness might be up by now, we all know training well isn’t the same as a full pelt game. He wasn’t bad, not outstanding but he didn’t give any penalties away AFAIK and made a handful of good tackles.
FWIW Matty Smith was anonymous. See what next week brings after more time to gel.

| I do fear Wembley will be a televised, pre watershed bumming, though. Their second string just put five tries past us and the gulf was evident no matter how valiant/depleted we were.

True - I thought we may have seen more tactical kicks, but given that he had 1 training session erg it would have been a big ask for him to dominate.

We did though, personnel isnt the be all and end all. The way Holbrook has saints playing, moving the ball and attacking is world class. He's an incredible coach and that's why he's been poached by the NRL. The scary thing is they have more to come with Coote back in, they're the best by a long way. Doesn't mean they will win anything but hats off to them.

No they aren’t a world class team but...we had a 17 year old stand off playing with a scrum half who joined the club 2 days ago. We had a centre playing his first full game of rl. We had a 17 year old playing on the wing against the golden boot winner. If you expected anything than a trouncing then you are beyond optimistic, it wasn’t a trouncing therefore positives to be taken...especially after the effects of Saturday.

And Saints had an 18 year old at fullback, who got 2 try assists, made 2 try saving tackles on forwards and got mom. I know Sky went on about Warrington had 9 our, but Saints had 6, and Thompson, LMS and Peyroux were benched after 30 minutes not to return

Not criticising burrell at all, it was just noticeable after 15 20 minutes he did seem to be taking in some big lungfulls, i thought he did alright, his cover tackle method is a tad unorthodox

Spot on. I've always supported enthusiasm and commitment and that's what we had tonight. Well done lads.

Have to agree. We had 6 or 7 players from our first choice 17 and those that played were on a short turnaround, plus our bench was reduced to 2 before the end of the first half. For the level of effort and determination we showed I was really impressed. Dean made a shed load of errors, but at least he gave it a go and will be the better for the experience. I am not sure about Burrell, he looks as though he hasn't played much rugby, let alone rl. Will he be a decent signing ?. Thewliss was excellent, despite playing out of position. Smith looks clearly unfit and Bennie is spent sadly, not surprising at his age. Ratchford was in a league of his own.
If you look at the patchwork of a team we put together with Thewliss, Dean, Smith, Burrell and Johnson who have hardly ever played together (5 games between them), two 17 yr olds with virtually no experience at SL and the penalty of only two on the bench, I would say they really produced a gutsy performance.
