| Didn't have the rub of the green, but if our defensive line doesn't move in, then we've given their forwards the edge. Our forwards drove in we'll, but they met with a forward moving defensive line every time. Case in point, why was Austin ineffective tonight- because their defensive line moved up fast and smothered any moves and chance of space. They're forwards had an advantage because we allowed them that advantage by standing back, and giving their runners not only a 7/8m , but the space for the play makers on the back of that. It doesn't matter whether you have Austin or Ratch in top form, they need space, and that space is achieved through the forwards, both in attack and defence mostly. Hate to say this, but saints have showed us how to win tonight- full on speed defence; and smothering the attack.
I reckon we and SP will have learnt a good lesson tonight. We're going have to take some jibbing from the saints fans. But better we learn now than the end of the season.

| its a tough one to take for the fans but the players and staff will learn more from that performance than the 4 or so wins past few weeks, hopefully bounce back next week.

| Well what a big let down that was and agree with some on here about Patton.Offers the odd glimpse of what he can do but that happens about as often I pick four winners on a lucky 15.

| Hugely frustrating, but we'll bounce back - I certainly don't want to hear any "not as good as we thought" sentiments.
Saints had an off day last week and lost, and they'll have others.
I thought Davis went very well, and I share the concern that we have one half back and one passenger. We're one injury away from losing most of our potency.

| Still not a fan of Philbin starting at 13, i think he's far less effective. Forwards got completely dominated tonight which isn't a surprise looking at saints pack. Austin got closed down and we just had nothing, 10 minutes in the the second half and it was 100% dead for us

| Even without, god forbid Austin and key players, a side always has a chance by smothering the attack and moving up in defence. Lomax (mom) was good, but he was allowed to be good. Let's be honest here, he isn't a patch on Austin. SP needs to not only sort the defence, but use it as an attacking force.
A few years back, under TS, we played Leeds the season after they'd won the gf and played them away- they (leeds) were strong favourites at home and we blasted them. Our defence was the key. It moved up so quick that the fine Leeds backs had no space. The commentators were raving. That style of defence seemed new at the time.
Holbrook seems to have things sorted with saints, in that the speed of the defence and the speed of the timing of the runs is key.. Notice the angles of running of the saints forwards (which would be cut out by a forward moving defence).
A defeat like this is better now. It'll make us stronger. COYW

| Ignore that clown rubber duckie, ratchford is a coward and I've said it for years. He simply hasn't got the bottle to put his body on the line!

| You were never in that game tonight. Your pack just couldn't compete, meaning Austin and Ratchford were left resorting to low percentage plays all the time and none of them came off. Austin carried absolutely no threat as there was just no threat running off him, meaning we could just overload him and rush him without any worries. Walmsley, Knowles, Thompson, Roby, Peyroux, Taia and especially Matty Lees were all superb tonight. We've also got Jack Ashworth who didn't make the 17 tonight and he'd get in your 17 with ease. You are missing a trick with BMM. You've just turned him into a one dimensional fat impact prop and it's carrying so much timber around that gets him injured all the time. He has natural size and should be a lot fitter and leaner than he is. It puts pressure on the likes of Hill and Cooper (Who was your best player). You are probably still the best side in SL as you have the x-Factor of Austin. But if you go into big games with the likes of BMM and Lama Tasi on your bench you are going to make it hard for yourselves. Surely you have academy players coming through?

| You were taught a very harsh lesson tonight. Our pack was outstanding and yours was nowhere near the same level. Lachlan Coote also showed tonight that he is levels above Ratchford and Blake Austin was really poor but I suppose it’s difficult to play behind a beaten pack. To thump you like that with our best scrum half out injured is a big statement. Hopefully we can play like that at the end of the season this year because no one is beating that standard.

| Enjoy it whilst it lasts Saints fans. Best team won tonight and deserved the scoreline. Lets see if they do it in October. Coote is comfortably better than Ratchford but then so am I. Will Price have the knackers to drop him as that was a far worse performance than Lineham in France.
