MOS standings mean nothing for Coote. Difficult for any saints player when according to most of the selectors roby is always the star player no matter how many people have better games than him. He's good but honestly they seem to have saints down as a one man team which they definitely aren't.

FWIW I think Coote is a great signing and a fine player. Just like ratchford.

Quote: WWRLFC78 "I think one of our fans on Red V made reference to the current MOS standings i.e. Ratchford being well above Coote. The response was that there was instances whereby Coote had played excellent but had still been overshadowed by other saints player during these games. I'd accept that argument if the top ten in the current MOS chart was riddled with other saints players but it simply isnt! We have three of the top ten, Cas have two and Wakey have two...in fact Coote is the second highest saints player behind Roby in 15th spot on 6 points........so he hasnt been performing THAT well behind Roby!!

In fact Coote is only the 4th placed fullback behind Ratchford, Shaul and Evalds.'"

Cheers. I might copy and paste that. Couldn't have put it better than that.

I don't know why Wire fans get in to arguments with or start baiting Saints fans. At the end of the day, they have been far more successful than us over the years and even recently the head-to-head balance is slightly in favour of them. They've won 6 out of the last 10 and 11 out of the last 20 against us which probably reflects the relative balance of power. It feels like tempting fate to get in to a slanging match with them.

If it all came to a global war against Wigan we would be on the same side as Saints so lets focus on what binds us and not what divides us.

That's getting a bit Churchillian isn't it ? You will be exhorting the Wire forum to fight the pies on the beaches and in the hills next (if we had any). And what about attendances ? The West stand will be deserted if we wipe out all the Wigan supporters, Karl F will go absolutely bonkers.

When Saints play Wigan, I want Wigan to win. If Saints were playing the Martians, I'd cheer the Martians on.

Couldn't give two Pooh's about the plastic scousers.
They can't even say "bottle" (you know, that thing they do in semis) properly.

Wigan, Widnes and Leigh are our local rivals. Until Stains became a force in the mid 90's, our attendances against them, prove this.

Team I most hate losing to...

1. Wigan
2. Widnes
3. Salford (I have an irrational dislike of them).

The rest in any order.

We lost so many times to St Helens between 1994 and 2010, that another loss doesn't hurt me at all. ANY loss against Wigan is awful, despite many, many losses against them too.

It's only a bit of banter though isn't it. We are jealous of their SL success which will take us a decade to emulate at least, and they are hurting from our recent results against them and the fact our star seems to be in the ascendance.

It matters little really, we are both ty little north west towns with dead high streets, declining character, burgeoning sub-classes, drug crime and poor health and educational standards. This games takes our mind off that for 80 minutes.

Nice try SC but it's the current 1 v 2, who cares whether they have been more successful? At present, whether they like it or not we are the biggest threat to them winning trophies this season (and they don't like it up 'em Mr Mainwaring"icon_wink.gif.

I applaud both clubs for trying to attract attention for this game because it would be great if it is a sell out and if the game ends up a great spectacle with a dramatic finish.
In terms of if this game really matters. I am not sure, other than a bit of local bragging rights and maybe the winning team gaining a bit of confidence.
I think saints and Wire will finish the regular season 1&2 and we know nobody really cares about the LLS so what is really at stake.
I would enjoy it if we win but it will mean very little when the play offs come round.

Oh come on there is far more spice to a match up between 1st and 2nd. I’m definitely feeling the butterflies which doesn’t happen that often, I can’t be the only one surely?

Well we need to care about the LLS this season as it’s the best route to the Grand Final in this new format. Makes it worth winning now.
