| I still wonder if Agar has been brought in as a foil to cover the ineptitude of Smith, but for all we know the problem may lie with the dressing room & not the management

Could it be argued that a problem in the dressing room left unaddressed to the extent that it destroys a season, is a problem with the management?

I suppose it could since the fortunes of the club have deteriorated on Smith's watch with little or no apparent intervention by the club board or management.
Most of us have watched the club in lean times over the years but this season's collapse seems have been tolerated from on high .

| I notice that in today's WG all of the stories coming out of the club are accredited to Lee Briers. There is no reference to Tony Smith or Agar in any of them. So, what can we make from that?

| Bad news for some, I've just read in league express that he as had offers from NRL but still as a year here and is happy. Guess I would be happy stealing a wage.

Yeah, I read that article too.
I surmise that he knows that the Wire hierarchy want him out, & he is hanging-on for an offer by Warrington to buy his contract-out.
Its a game of cat & mouse now to see who blinks first.

| Sort of makes earlier suggestions that he had offered his resignation questionable.

| It was only a couple weeks ago that "Big Karl" was telling us how happy the club is to throw money at the best players at our rivals. Unfortunately we have only been able to get the unwanted players at a jumped up price but why wouldnt we be able to pay off squash boys wage if that's what it takes. Richard Agar hardly has a shining career in coaching Rugby League so suppose he could take the money and open a nice bakery somewhere.

We could easily afford to just keep paying his wage monthly and have him on garden leave. If he wants to go anywhere in the 12 months he will have to terminate.
I will be very disillusioned with the club if he remains for a 4th year.

That could be a way of levering both Agar & Smith out!
I don`t think Smith would agree to Agar being treated that way, & would threaten to resign.
If we breeze through the qualifiers & ensure SuperLeague for 2018, then the Board of Directors will make their move, initially on Agar.
It then depends on Smith to accept that appointing his best mate as his assistant coach was a blunder. If Agar leaves on good terms, than Smith will stay for the remainder of his contract.
Alternatively Smith could walk, if he deems that Agar has been forced-out

| I would imagine that Smith's negotiating power is diminished following the worst league performance in 15 years whilst spending a fortune in the process to achieve it. Both will be very lucky to survive into 2018, and only at Warrington would they have that chance.
