Where do you get that from ? Myth.It really isn't awesome,in fact kicking is the weakest part of his game.

Is he the best we could get ?'"
No that is terrible a waste of money and cap.
I'm just dismayed as to why we have signed him it could well be a stroke of genius but it's an uninspiring signing to say the least. I don't think his kicking game is all that and what Patton may lack in experience he makes up for in trys conversions. Which over a season may be worth 2-4 league points!!!
Still nothing confirmed as yet so could be wild rumours

maybe not playing on that wonderful pitch at widnes every other week will help him injury wise.

| He'd be a great signing surely.
Dec Patton will need to stay fit and prove his consistency before he’s 1st choice for that position.

Kevin Brown has Played at Wigan, Huddersfield and Widnes. He's never changed and is still the same player, Signing him is a backwards step by the club and a huge disappointment.
Isn't he also Briers' brother in law? If we're not careful we could end up like Saints, with the back room full of past players and relations and mates.
If true this signing smack of desperation.'"
Gareth Hocks brother-in-law. Also in business with Jon Clarke.

Played around 90% of Widnes' games last year missing only the Easter period I think.Don't have the stats to hand but I'd say Sandow was out more.

| TS said that he was not that bothered about Sandow leaving, but he was about the timing. So the club has had little time to sort out a replacement and we might end up with Kevin Brown. Opinion seems to be divided about his strengths, but at 32 he is only going to be here for another 2 years max, hence we are only looking at a stop gap - which ought to soothe the nerves of anyone worried about the long term prospects of the club, not to mention the prospects for the younger player coming through. If the figure of £100k is correct, then Widnes have got the bargain of the century for a player at the end of his career. Having said that, we can easily afford it after all the money we will have raked in last year.
It's still all speculation at the moment anyway, but is this really a 'big deal' ?

| I just don't get why we'd bring players in for the sake of is when we could start the season off with:
1. Russell/Johnson/Penny
2. Lineham
3. Evans/Blythe
4. Atkins
5.Penny/Russell
6. Gidley
7. Patton
We've got the depth and the youngsters. There's no need to actually spend the apparent 100k just for the sake of it.

of course its not a big deal.. its a stop gap player for a few years.. nothing more... while the £100,000 would seem to be excessive.. i really couldn't care less.
We are close to the start of the season now and we have a HB down, so its no surprise we will have to pay over the odds for an in contract player.
I'm glad we have opted for someone like Brown, rather than taking a risk on someone unproven.

| He played a major part in giving Widnes their best start in SL . Unfortunately Coughitup Dennis couldn't keep them fit for the season.
It's an OK move, nothing spectacular and nothing disastrous. If he does a job for the first half dozen games then great. We're not starting the season off with Patton or Ratchford, and Gidley won't give us a full season. So the only plan B we have is Gidley/King for a couple of games. I know which I'd rather have.
Bennett & Smith see something in him that some on here don't. I know who I'd rather get an opinion on.

Possibly, TS, some others and I feel we need to bring someone in because, however you slice and dice it and with the possible exception of Patton & Johnson (still unproven) and Gidley, that is a singularly uninspiring selection of players.

The wrist injury to Patton has made the signing of a new half back more important. Imagine we lost Gidley for a game or two and we made no signing then we would look threadbare at half back. This signing is by no means an insult to Patton.

| Widnes loosing Brown will likely put them back into the middle 8s for next season IMO.

| The only thing I have against Kevin Brown is the fact that he has clearly been sneaking around with moving on's missus. That is poor form.
Other than that, I think this is a decent signing. Not a 'book your Grand Final tickets already' signing, but a good one.
