| Was very disappointed with England - he just looked off the pace and I didn't think he seemed abe to make the yards. Caught out by opposition footwork too.
I thought of him as a good 3rd prop but not based on that performance. Let's hope it's just a bad day at the office for him and he steps up to the plate next week.

| England suffers because of the comparison fans will automatically make re Hill, ie come from a lower league side, and "hit the ground running". England needs a VERY STRONG end to season, and a v. good '16 season, otherwise he'll be at Wakefield/back in the Championship.
He's already blotted his copybook, re the Bob Carolgees pet impression

| Those stats are shocking. However, asotasi has been doing that since he came yet his name is on the team sheet every week and it isn't him putting it on there. Neither does he decide to only play for about 15 minutes each game. Smith is not stupid and he is very loyal(too much sometimes)to his players, but I honestly don't see what he is doing with regards to this 'player'.

| Exactly. You see the three carries thing is poor, very poor but all I hear on here and on the terraces is Roy only did fifteen minutes blah blah...he doesn't pick nor spell himself.

My guess is he's trying to make the best of a pooh situation. He knows he's bought a dud, and paid a lot of money for the privilege. He's just trying to cover up the mess, by giving him a few minutes at a time.
We should've paid the lover off, and have done with it. We'd be better blooding someone from the U19s

I guess TS has kept his faith with Asotasi hoping he will, at some point turn good. I thought he played his best game at Wigan last year in the playoff semifinal and would hit on from there. But no he certainly hasn't- he doesn't really seem to give a crap. Remember the Millennium Magic weekend last year v Saints, (one of his early games where you'd hope he would make some kind of mark) and there was some argie bargie; he blatantly didn't give a stuff about sticking up for his team mates. Contrast that with Sims who for me always gives 100%

| So it's poor form to keep playing a player so clearly inept surely? The price tag should make no difference to his inclusion. Saying that up until sat Roy was playing 'relatively' well.

| You can tell he's just riding it and playing the game without any meaning or purpose. He's probably the only player to have survived nearly 2 years of professional rl without any scratch or any remote chance of any kind of injury, especially considering he's a front rower. Going back to that moment in the mm v saints last year where he trundled over to the argie bargie; I can remember the faces of his fellow Wire side- a look of surprise and disbelieve that 'our supposed main front rower' showed the complete opposite characteristics of the man he was replacing (Morley) when his side needed him.
There's some criticism of TS and the board for signing him. At the time of his signing, this board seemed to be generally positive about his arrival (including myself). TS had the nigh on impossible job of finding a replacement for Morley. Asotasi seemed to make sense, what with his pedigree, reputation (best prop in nrl (either before or after he signed a huge contract with the Rabbitohs) and experience of captaining) - square pegs and square holes.
More than anything Asotasi has let TS down big time. Apart from Briers, Morley was the main man to replace and for me, Morley more so because of the importance of the pack gaining dominance. I think we're agreed that without a solid forward foundation; the backs won't effectively come into play and the likes of Briers are going to be swimming against the tide.
You can't attribute the downfall of a side to one player. But asotasi for me, has transcended an attitude of- 'I can't be d' down to the rest of the side. If that incumbent leadership role was down to most of the other players, it wouldn't matter so much. But with asotosi replacing Morley as our pack and side leader; it's seriously influenced and numbed our side's desire to be ultra competitive and go the step further to winning games like HKR in the cc.
No one is perfect and TS is the same. I can understand why he had pride and faith in bringing the youth through to replace the old guard. To lose Morley, Briers, King, Hodgson, Solomona and Waterhouse is ridiculously impossible to replace but I really respect that he's tried to do it with some signings and have faith in the youth policy. I think the change has been too swift but I think TS has now realised that now, hence the changes.
Get Asotasi out, get another big aggro prop in who looks like he's going to give a crap like Sims, Hill and Westwood. They'll set the platform and inspiration for Wilde and Philbin and the rest of our youth side. With Grix back and Harrison in there and our fine hookers, the backs will take care of themselves, especially with Sandow. COYW

| Hey Hey lets not forget, we have been told that Roy gets to his feet for a quick play the ball quicker than anyone else. that in turn puts us on the Front foot..........
and that then makes us irresistible, and we look like a rolling unstoppable runaway train carrying tanks and missiles and other dangerous stuff.....
actually I added that last bit in ....we don't do anything of the sort....
he's our worst overseas signing by a country mile.....

| Totally agree FB. In all the years watching Wire since 1987- the worst effort per £ spent. Names such Teitzal and Roach (who I liked) are nothing compared to this Benson of Beds recliner. Churchill said 'never was so much owed by so few'. When asotasi leaves TS will be saying 'never has so much less been given by what should have been so much more'.

| Having analysed Ashton Sims from an entirely disinterested perspective I have only one real conclusion to make:
The harder he tries the more he's written off.

| He doesn't have the weight of Hill, Walmsley and Mosoe but whatever happens he gets stuck in and has no fear. Makes a big difference. 'It's not the size of the dog in a fight, but the size of the fight in the dog'. He was instrumental in us beating Wigan. Sims was heard on (I think) the refs microphone telling the pie front row that 'he'd have all of them'. Someone like that makes a huge difference. I remember a couple of years back when we played you guys at the Home and we won (for once). My work mates who were all saints fans said that when Morley came on after 20 (first appearance after a while with a torn biscep) changed the game as the saints forwards were intimidated and wouldn't run at him.
