Come on "duckie" are you always as miserable as you always appear on this forum. Is there anything that can lighten you up? Just occasionally let yourself go.

| Kevin rediscovered his form at Swinton..he was loved here
We tend to be a bit more loyal and a bit more forgiving at our level
Made up for the lad . He was outstanding last night

| He seemed to be playing at prop for most of the time, and I thought he did ok but could do with putting on a few pounds. We should try him on the wing, I am sure he will do better.

Quote: St pete "I thought he was brilliant. Where he been all these years ?'"
Basically learning the game.
As a Saints fan you probably are as aware as any of the short-comings he had in his game awareness when he brilliantly broke through as a teenager. When Smith arrived at our club he recognised that he was some way away from SL level but with his pace there was always something to work with. He was first sent away on loan to Widnes and then to Wakefield (ask their fans what he was like for them - put on a hard hat for the responses).
He then moved away from the full time ranks and went into fulltime employment (as a "speedy" parcel courier - van driver) whilst playing part-time primarily at Swinton and also lower level RU. When we dual-registered with Swinton there was the opportunity to see him playing and training again and obviously Smith saw the improvement, continued commitment and enthusiasm to playing the game and signed him on dual-reg terms. I would think that Swinton fans would speak highly of Penny from his time there.
His contract with us was for last season and an option for this year also. He has obviously matured physically but remains lightening pace. He was unfortunate last year to pick-up quite a serious knee injury just after breaking into the team and never featured for us again (although did play for Swinton backend of the season).
When the club took up the option of the additional year of his contract for this season there was pretty much universal condemnation of the decision from the people posting an opinion on here.
All in all a real "good news" story about a kid who has always played with a smile on his face, he's still a player who will get the crowd on their feet and tingling with excitement.
There is a nice article here about his journey www.warringtonguardian.co.uk/spo ... _hard_way/

| I'm not sure this reflects terribly well on the coaching and management at Warrington. A home-town player, who makes the SL Dream Team, is deemed not up to scratch, and despite his obvious potential, the club decide, for whatever reason, not to invest in, and develop, him, by, you know, coaching him and managing him. Instead, he drifts away, and, if you take all this at face value, he is brought 'back' up to SL standard by the coaching team at Swinton
I'm glad he's back, of course, but there will always be a big 'What If...?' for me...

| His attitude after the high shot was incredible, jumping straight back up and perhaps thinking wow he's a big fella However, a short while after Penny was faced with said giant who was steaming straight towards the line and was duly stopped by Penny, admirable defence in my book

| As a fan, sometimes we are blinkered to only see the tries, the big hits and the bust ups. But after watching the game back, you get to see how much work players actually do. Kev worked the ball away against a very tough and physical team from some difficult areas. Carrying the first and second ones are the real tough ones, and in seasons past, where you would have seen him stand well out of the way of, but he carried it in, made a few meters and played the ball. Nothing fancy, nothing silly, no mysterious injury for him to catch a breather, just got the job done. I never thought I'd be saying that!
Still quite raw, but has adopted a ''last chance" attitude and gives it his all. I just hope it continues, as at the moment he is a major part of our team, and has been more effective than any other of our outside backs.
