I don't really agree with that. Quite a few times I watched him stand off attackers instead of moving up, letting Orsmby and others take them on and effect the tackle. He looked almost like he was afraid to get involved today, like he knew if he messed up like last week he would find himself dropped. I'd go as far as saying he was anonymous and ineffectual today.
On the opposite end, I thought Ormsby was brilliant. That lad really looks like he's taking his opportunity with both hands. Big for a winger and not afraid to take on the line, both in attack and defence.
Overall today I was happy to come away with the win but more importantly it was good to see an improved performance. GO'B is really cementing himself in the side, deserved MoM for me today and I think it will be a crying shame if he's dropped again when Russell is fit. We've still a long way to go as a squad but we built up some good attack today (although lacking a little in execution) and looked better in defence. All good signs

| Quote: Kevin Turvey "Given that we have lost some key players in pivotal positions I wonder what people will see as success this season. Sure, it's a transitional season but does success purely have to be about winning everything. I would love to see some of our younger players emerge as good quality SL players with a top 5 finish and good cup run. That would make it a successful season for me!'"
Kevin, I tend to agree with you, for success this season I'd go for top 4 or 5 with a shout for the grand final and a good CC run. Likewise re the juniors but I think we may have to bed a few more juniors this year than originally planned, especially if we get injuries to senior players.
I suppose similar to the dominant Saints team as they lost their key senior players it has taken them a few years to rebuild into what seems like they may once again be contenders. I would hope it doesn't take the Wire that long.

Maybe but had Ormsby received a few better passes today he could have been on a hat-trick.

| Ben Currie is 18 years of age and runs hard and tackles well above his weight. People on here need to remember Tony Smith is no mug and reputation counts for nothing. Smith likes Currie and he sees him everyday in training.

| Looking at wire in the first two games they seem devoid of any ideas to break down the opposition and only look dangerous from kicks. In the Leeds game they had ten times the possession in the opponents 25 than Leeds and Leeds with the exception of the Westwood try held firm all night. Leeds had limited territory compared to Wire but Leeds. also had two tries disallowed and blew 4 clear cut chances. If leeds had had the possession that Wire had on the try line and taken chances they would have put 40 past Warrington easily. Still I think the Warrington pack played well against Leeds, Leeds utilise their wingers to great effect and in Hall and Briscoe have the best wingers in superleague also at making good yards from defence. In the scheme of things the Leeds backs were different class and in Bridge and Atkins Warrington were outgunned. I have always had my doubts about Atkins and think he's a work horse but does little in attack to frighten the opposition unlike Watkins who his a real superstar in the making. When he gets the ball in space people stand in their seats. I think Wire will struggle this year in comparison to previous years but will still make the four with Leeds, Wigan and Saints. At the end of the day it's al about injuries, and if everyone stays fit I think the hub cap is between Leeds and Saints, time will tell but don't give up on your team just yet we have only played three games and you have a new halfback combination settling in.

| Riley is still a better player than Ormsby. No doubt after today.

| I'm surprised nobody has commented on Myler's performances of late.... Although you'd have to try hard to notice he is playing!
He goes into hiding and for me offers very little (even in support play lately). GOB was our best player on the pitch today, whilst he's not the answer to our 'Briers replacement' prayers it would be a crying shame to drop him in favour for Myler who in my opinion frankly doesn't want to get stuck in!

| Ps: Currie did nothing wrong today, nothing special but neither did anybody else for that matter! Atkins has been below standard for a while (and he knows it), was happy with Asotasi today some cracking hits!
Ormsby is ok, nothing special and I do think that Riley would've finished that in the corner, but needs more game time. I'd give Penny a bash against London seeing as though will be like playing a team full of amateurs

I'm with you, we're obviously not firing on all cylinders, play the strongest side, get a better understanding of each other.

Top 4 or 5 with a chance of trophies???????
Have you watched any Warrington games this season?
Wire and Hull will finish mid table.
Wire are currently a team of old players, a lot of whom are past their prime, and inexperienced kids.
They don't seem to have a captain on the pitch, have poor decision making at half back, and are probably the slowest set of backs in the competition.
What they did in the past is irrelevant this season.
All they can do this year is bed in the kids, and work out a way of playing with the half backs they have, instead of trying to play the Briers way.
In answer to your final point it has taken Saints several years, and ultimately the decision to acquire a top drawer half back, to get back to the top, after trying to transition through youth.
There is nothing at the moment to suggest that Warrington have a shortcut.

Read my posts earlier in the thread rather than selected reading that will answer points 1 to 3. The rest of your points I can't disagree with at present.
