| Quote: ninearches "What i do find disturbing is the amount of serious injuries that Wire players have sustained in Wigan games over the last few years.
Matt King serious neck injury
David Solomona serious knee injury due to dubious tackle in CC semi a couple of years ago .
Stef Ratchford ankle injury due to shoulder charge to hip 2013 SL Final.
I would hate to think there is a policy at Wigan to eliminate opponents by fair means or foul .'"
Most players deliberately trying to injure an opponent risk getting sent off. I'm not sure it's a risk many coaches would take.
If you look back over the season Wigan have suffered as many injuries as any other Super League team. They started the year off playing second choice pack for about the first 10 games.
Why don't you accept that injuries are part of a contact sport? All teams suffer them - not just yours. Do you seriously think there is some big conspiracy against Warrington?
For example Blake Green suffered a serious ankle injury himself against Hull KR back in April, due to a shoulder charge (by Paterson). He fell awkwardly just like Ratchford did.

| Yes & there was also an eye gouging incident in the same CC semi !
Re getting sent off for causing a serious injury....some of the refs can't even see knock ons , offside & forward passes so how can a ref tell if any injury was caused deliberately....that's why we have the review panel.
Like i said , i would hate to think a team would target players deliberately ,but coincidencies can stack up.

Yes they can. And that's what they stay - coincidences. We could all trawl back through the archives and come up with incidents of deliberate punching, gouging, high shots etc. what does that achieve?
Do you seriously think that Wigan deliberately go out to injure opponents?
Because funny how none of this was mentioned prior to the Grand final. Mentioning it after seems like sour grapes don't you think?

Yeah, I vaguely recall that thread. Wasn't the entire contents Wigan fans wanting Paterson banned for the length of time that Green was out injured? As I recall, every Wigan fan on that thread was absolutely outraged, was calling it a disgusting challenge.
Was that challenge similar to the one on Ratchford by Hansen? (bear in mind I've not seen the Ratchford challenge yet)

| What i have a problem with is that my view of the tackle was that one player had grabbed Ratchford so it would be more logical for Hanson to go high & help his team mate to stop Ratch getting the ball out to supporting players ,which i am sure you will agree is what we try to do at every opportunity. At that moment a tackle round the legs looked illogical.

It wasn't even vaguely similar. Which isn't really the point anyway. I was using it as an example of how teams have to put up with injuries in the sport - or do you still feel that Warrington are the only team challenged in this way?
In any case considering the start of the GF in which Westwood assaulted Green, it is a bit rich for Warrington fans to feel quite so aggreived. You gave it out - be prepared to take it back - stop being so soft.
Incidently before this goes any further if you care to look on the Wigan boards check out the thread "Briers" during which I support your man as a player and play down the punch on Ablett as insignificant.
I'm quite sure that Shaun Wane doesn't tell Wigan players to deliberately injure opponents in the same way that Tony Smith doesn't encourage Warrington players to punch opponents when their back is turned or laying on the floor.

Wane was assistant to Maguire. Who was accused of coaching techniques to try and injure players.

Same coaching technique that Nathan Brown practised at Huddersfield.
