| Luckily for Ratchford (and Riley who shadowed Hodgson at fullback for a bit) he's learned the art of the position from one of the best out there; one of a few who do it properly ....... stand back, read what's in front of you, and organise the players ahead so 90% of danger is snuffed out at the line or the potential of an attack is maximised BEFORE you join in.
Having watched Hodgson laughing at Ratch's missed kicks in training, I know he hasn't passed on that art just yet
Unfortunately for many young fullbacks they have been told by the media that ST is a model fullback ..... dancing around looking for any chance to join in and grab the glory, whilst leaving ruddy great gaps in your own defence.
I can only wish Hodgson all the best for whatever his next venture is, but I'm presuming it'll be as a coach somewhere.

| Quote: The All New Chester Wire "Evolution, not revolution....still top 3 next year for us. In for all the trophies.'"
Hang on, this cant be right... internet know it alls have been telling us for years that this side will face a major overhaul, which will result in us being out of the running for major trophies...
this contrary evidence would suggest that the club and TS know what they are doing !!
Surely the people off the internet must be right.

| Great player, in 2011 was an absolute pleasure to watch him and M. Monaghan completely dissolve the leagues defences with ease. Oozes class, not just as a player but a person too.
Best of luck for the future, and no doubt would be welcomed back with a coaches cap on further down the track.
Story's not over yet though, hopefully ending with a winners ring.

| I must be in the minority but i'm quite happy to see most of the players that are being released at the end of the season go. It's the right time to let Hodgson and Morley go, Tyke and certainly williams aren't good enough, Cooper i'm indifferent about but i'd have kept Carvell and would have prefered for Clarke come in for Monaghan for next season. Briers needs replacing very soon.

| I'm disappointed to see him go and, despite the rumours of it, rather surprised too. When he signed that last contract I thought that because of its length he might be looked at as a coach-in-waiting for us, I could imagine he'd be good. But best of luck to him, I've always liked the way he conducts himself and plays and he's one of those guys in the sport who sets a great example - if your son became a player and turned out like him you'd be very proud indeed. Good luck and thank you Brett.
Asa for the other leavers, best of luck to them all but the only one which really gnaws at me is Carvell, can't understand it

| Good luck to him, one of the bravest, most skilful and intelligent players around he often stood head and shoulders above everyone else on the field. Nice guy as well.

| I know that this is off topic but is whlist this other players name has been brough up in this topic.
Is there anyone else of the same mind as me that, given all that is going on at Bradford, they will only definitely believe that Carvell will sign for them if he gives a " thanks for the memories " speech at the end of the game tonight ( assuming of course that we have won and Moz, Hodgson et al are given the mic )
I am still waiting for the announcement that his Bradford contract has fallen through and he is signing up with us for another year.
