I was at the game so havent heard it myself but I believe Eddie Hemmings was saying that Briers should have been Red carded....
I then heard him myself during the Saints game banging on about waiting to see how many games Lee will be banned for should he have a case to answer.
I am reminded though that this is the same Eddie Hemmings that in the immediate aftermath of the Wigan Saints brawl of 2004 said "well it was unseemly but it gets people juices flowing on the terraces ...I'll tell you"
the man is a nob and Tony smith Should give Hemmings the same treatment Fergie gave to the BBC for years.......

| briers should have gone, you cant smack someone and expect to stay on the pitch..makes a pleasant change to come on here and say that one or two decisions went for us for a change, like westwoods try under sticks in 1st half but how on earth sinfields try was given is beyond me.the 1st pass was miles forward and then to listen to them clowns going on about jumping off a moving train takes some believing...end of the day best team won...

| Abblet jabbed Briers in the throat then grabbed the back of his shirt and tried to strangle him with it...Childs initially gave Wire the penalty...Little wonder Briers lost his rag.

Briers should have gone for a cowardly punch if he plays again this year the RFL have really lost the plot

No, Childs gave a turnover, Leeds were getting the ball anyway

Jesus - did you watch the game? Leeds were outplayed, but.....the penalty against Ablett was for offside, nothing else. His tackle on briers was totally legal. Briers punch to the head was unprovoked and should have resulted in a red card. From that point, nobody knows how the game would have gone, but considering briers had a hand in most things good that Warrington did post that incident, I think it's fair to assume things could have been different.
I am not overly concerned at today's result. I think a few decisions went against us although I am know the best team won. We have to improve next week. The game that needs winning will occur in 2 weeks, after the last few years we ll know that. Good luck to Warrington from here on in, we'll probably see you in 2 weeks, fingers crossed.

"Nonsense"!
For once Leeds were "Cack" today and were completely outplayed from 1 to 17, you seriously cant be implying that Warrington only had one good player on the pitch today surely... And we wont even go there with regards a near 5 meter forward pass that resulted in one of your trys today... But i bet you didnt even see that did you??

| Thought Waterhouse was exceptional today too. Just hope we can get Myler back before the end of the season, Grix is wasted at half-back.

Despite that Leeds can't say it had any bearing on the result, they was in a winning position and went on to get completely dominated. Westwood was back to his best after what seems to have been a slightly below par season from what I have seen. But the main man IMO was M Monaghan, that's the best performance I've seen from him for a couple of years.'"
While I don't condone punching, it was hardly 'unprovoked'. Ablett's shirt-collar grab and throw, catching Briers face on the way, was a good start, then he clearly said something to Briers. To send off Briers would have obliged Childs to send off two or three from each side for the short brawl that followed. As Briers has a first-class disciplinary record it's not much of a call by the ref not to send him off, nor would it be to impose a minor punishment

| Seems that Lee Briers is the first person in the history of the game to stay on the pitch when (possibly) deserving a red, and then goes on to influence the result!

| I thought it was good sensible reffing to be honest, the fans pay a lot of money to go to these games and they want to be entertained by top players they don't want the game to be decided by the ref waving a card.
If he'd have sent Briers off we would have missed a masterclass from one of the games few remaining greats so rugby league was the winner today.

| Does anyone know the chapter & verse on the EGP? Can Lee use the EGP for a punch & escape a ban, given that Lee has an excellent disciplinary record.
