I thought last night was a really impressive win. At the game at half time I was worried that we seemed to be losing the physical battle but after watching the game back on tv the truth is that we were well on top of the arm wrestle and followed this up in the 2nd half with a match winning blitz when quality told.

I'm sure some Hull fans will be aggrieved at Bentham's reffing but these will be the ones in the ground singing "you don't know what you're doing" when we got the head and ball after Myler charged down Horne's sliced kick. Case of bacon cheeks on that one especially after they were convinced they were right after the first replay angle!

Missing senior players in Morley, Westwood, Harrison, Briers and Bridge I admit to have doubts about our ability to get a win but to be fair our squad is now full of winners. The players who are brought in know they have to perform to keep their spot and I reckon this is has pushed the likes of Paul Wood and Mike Cooper to raise their games.

Particular mention to Simon Grix for his performance last night in Benny's right hand channel. There was no drop off in physicallity and you do wonder how he can be moved or dropped for next week. Perhaps the time is right for Benny to move up to front row for a few weeks whilst Morley is out to se ehow that goes with an eye to Benny's role over the next two or three seasons.

Myler again stood up to be counted. Compared to even 12 months ago he looks to have matured considerably both as a player and a person - no longer a promising boy wonder but to date, admittedly very early in the season, the stand-out half-back in the competition. Biggest testimony you can pay him (and Ratchford) from last night is that you cn't think we'd have played better with Briers on the pitch.

Also good to see Michael Monaghan at least looking fully fit. I'm not sure what state he's in the day after a game but 80 minutes of top performance last night suggests that the £10 for man of steel at 50/1 is not bad value.

Finally, one good thing that dual-registration has provided us is that when Wood, McCarthy and Currie have stepped in they have done so with competitive gane time under their belts and have fitted in without looking off the pace.

Loving the season so far and can't wait for my trip to Holland for next weeks game - get your binoculars out of storage.

PY what you have written I was thinking. With the exception that at the end of the 1st half I didn't feel we were losing the physical battle, but then I was at home watching on telly (work until 5:30PM ) so I had that advantage.

He certainly attends a few Leigh games.

I've never bought in to the idea that a referee will lean towards his hometown club. I'm sure all top level referees will officiate as impartially as they can but suspect that, subconsciously at least, they favour the other team so as not to have bias allegations thrown at them. (We'll never know, but would Ganson have been as ready to send off an Aussie after 12 seconds in a test match as he was with Mozz).

Regarding the game, I was working last night so only got to watch the match late last night/this morning when I got in. I felt that we were in control, even in the first half and I was confident that we would take the win. I'm pleased to see that some others feel the same way as watching the game I was starting to doubt myself. Listening to the muppets on Sky, they would have you believe that Hull were the better team and were unlucky to lose (I'm sure one of them at the end actually did use the word unlucky!).

Myler and Ratch in the halfs are looking good. I'm a big Lee Briers fan but i'm glad he has real competition for his place now.

Didn't think the ref was too bad.

Thought it was a good game, but you stepped up a gear after about 50 minutes and had just too much class for us, we really missed holdsworth and although you missed briers you have the players to step into halfback while we didn't.

Always rated grix and that's thus season and last were he has caused us real problems.

Quote: Asgardian13 "And I'll second that. I expect to see Bridge play a lot of games at centre with Ratchford at fullback. Ratch's tackle on Lineham shows his potential in that position.'"

There's only one person who doesn't see Bridge's ability on this board. Everyone else rightly sees him as an asset and top quality SL centre as long as he's fully fit.

So you'll just drop Evans for no reason then ?

He's not saying that at all. He's just pointing out that virtually everyone (apart from you) on this Board thinks that Chris Bridge is a top class centre.

Why? Can't Bridge play Loose Forward. On his day when fit and injury free, with ball in hand he is good. With him, Myler and Ratchford on the field they can create mayhem for us in attack.

Maybe it should be pointed out that Hull had a halfback in the 19, but chose not to play him.

Also it should be pointed out that Myler is only a year older than Lineham whilst Evans and Currie are respectively 1 and 3 years younger than him. Listening to Sky you'd think Lineham was the greatest prospect in the whole of Super League.
