| Like the Challenge Cup, once we win SL once I will expect us to win it several times.

| I agree with some of that DM, but not all of it. I was ecstatic to see us finish 1st last season and gutted that we didn't quite make it this year, regardless of what other people think of the LLS. I want us to win [ieverything[/i - every trophy, every game, they're all important to me. No such thing as a league game that doesn't matter.
The chants and the insults, they can hurt but mostly they make me sad because of the bizarre attitude they show towards parts of the game. Why don't they care about the LLS, or winning every game? Obviously the Grand Final and the SL trophy are the biggest, but why stop at just wanting that?

| Quote: Dropkick Murphy "To say we shouldn't have an LLS is obviously going too far, but I don't necessarily agree there should be a greater reward for it than there already is either. As pointed out already, the league season is not entirely balanced because of Magic Weekend, and the fact that the goal is to secure a certain position from which to push in the play offs means not every coach will push for the LLS even if their team is good enough
I have a burning desire to "see it all" where Wire success is concerned. Okay, I didn't see us win any trophies before 2009 so I'll never see the old ones that don't exist anymore but there's nothing I can do about that. I'm desperate to see us win all four that can currently be won though. I don't want to hear anymore "Have you ever seen Wire win the league" or "It's always your year" taunts from opposition fans. Those songs do hurt and I'm not going to pretend they don't, because they represent decades of Warrington failure that I'm desperate to see wiped out. I don't want to see any "One more than Warrington" World Champions banners at Widnes because it represents them having one over on us.
I want to see all that changed. I want to witness it all.
The LLS is a part of that, and irrespective of what happened next, I still had a brilliant night in Hull last year watching us clinch it, and a proud moment the following week watching Moz lift it. For me though that's it done. Yes, it would have been nice to win it again this year, and indeed in future, but the aim is the Grand Final, and even if we win it several times that will still be the aim because the rules at the start of every season state that the Super League Champions will be crowned at Old Trafford, and that is every club's aim.
I want to see it all, but I've seen the LLS now and it was very nice. In an ideal world I'll see the WCC in February and that will confirm the lot. After that though the two that will really matter year in year out will be the Challenge Cup and the Grand Final because when it comes down to it they ARE the two that really matter.'"
I can't believe I'm posting this but I agree with your sentiments entirely (well almost).
I think that it is upto the fans of all clubs to reclaim the Championship I was made up last year we finished top and sad we didnt pull it off this year with some barmy rotational results. To end this lob-sided 3 game (current) 'benefit' of playing Widnes. why not have a cash prize for Magic Weekend instead of league points? It's an artificial game in any event and TV should put up the cash.

That could be a good idea, but how would it work? It would have to be balanced, which is the only problem that needs solving - it wouldn't be fair if we got a cash prize for beating Widnes when Wigan played Saints, Leeds played Bradford, etc?

Do we have to play Widnes every time, Saints Wigan etc? We could have a random draw or base it on league standings either current or fianl standings from previous year?
Even a random draw would throw up the odd match to keep the neutrals intertested.

A random draw still wouldn't be fair for a single game decider - current standings would be good though, it would be difficult to say that wasn't fair unless people were obviously throwing games to get a better chance of winning.
In fact, go with the current standings, and a prize for each game? I'm not sure if this was what you meant originally, but a prize for each game would be a real incentive, especially given the financial situation at the moment.

Hey woah woah woah, lets not be agreeing with anyone over us having widnes at MM.
Please remember, whilst saints and wigan fans are moaning about playing them every year, likewise leeds and bradford(before they went ) we, warrington, have been making up the numbers on the magic weekends, we've had , non derby games against, salford, huddersfield and hull kr, we weren't even televised in 2008 as teh first game of the entire weekend.
And fan wise, we've still turned up in numbers, made noise and been the centre of attention, and spent loads of money.
We've got our derby back, which we've been deprived of, dont be taking it back off us just cos widnes are .

So what is the point you’re trying to make is resting players (Salford/London) a good idea or not? For ne it’s a matter of how many and when, not having a good few on the injury list helps too.

I guess it means different things to different people - I don't really care for the Widnes derby, as for the vast majority of my time following Warrington the two clubs have been in different leagues. Plus you have to admit it is not fair to be awarding league points based on an extra fixture of local derbies that are not very balanced.

I'd sooner be the best and recognised as such by one and all because we have operated from a level playing field.
Having travelled back to Bank Quay from Euston in '75 on the late late train, with the Widnes team in the front coach with 'our' cup I also support the Widnes is our Derby campaign and I'm enjoying being on top for now but two wins a year is enough unless we draw them in the cup.
This seasons' Magic weekend was a good dayout despite the match which was a none event

| Why not just get rid of the Magic Weekend altogether. It's a pointless exercise anyway, especially if you play it in Manchester.
Take the two Challenge semi-finals on the road in order to spread the word if needs be.

I think the pretense that it was spreading the game has been given up now. What it is is a massive fully-televised event that probably earns Sky loads in advertising, so it is very unlikely to be dropped even if we wanted it to.

Scrap the Magic Weekend in its current format.
Reduce SL to 12 teams playing each other home and away then splitting into top six and bottom six for a further 10 games each. Top of the league after 32 games are champions.
Re-arrange the Challenge Cup so that the 12 SL clubs and the remaining 4 'non-SL' clubs all meet over one weekend at one venue, similar to the current SL Magic Weekend.
All clubs get to play 32 games. No farcical extra fixture. End of the season consists of huge game after huge game which is ideal for Sky. Best team over the whole season are champions, not the team that can string 4 or 5 wins together at the end. The Challenge Cup gets a massive weekend event.

I understand the need to perhaps revamp the competition but offered my suggestion on MW as a tweak on the current system till a more appealing radical solution can be found.
I think that your league system has merit, but, I'm not sure about the cup. I know that it is a romantic notion but everyone should have a chance of winning it.
