| Quote matt king's cat="matt king's cat"Catalan totally dominated our forward pack and deserved the win. Briers trying to play off the back of a beaten pack on one leg can't be blamed for much of it. We were poor from 1-17 and every side will have a day or days like that this season.'"
I don't think they did. I thought our pack went okay, Morley & Carvell were very good, Solomona made a fair few yards too.
Problem came with ball retention, too many times when we were on the front foot we came up with loose carries, poor play options early in the tackle count etc. We had a fair bit of field poisiton.
Coaches sometimes say we played dumb, I think we did yesterday - which played into their hands.

Fully agree. It seemed that on each play we wanted to score on the first tackle.
Woody's knock on at the first tackle near the end just summed the game up for me. We hunt the mistake, force it, then we knock on first tackle and all the hard work has gone. Seems to happen a lot over the course of the season, but yesterday we were just awful for it.

No composure.
It's something that typified Culls reign, and for me something Smith has worked on and maybe it shows just how much Monas has do with it.
Yesterday, we played with the ball like you had sat on the remote and you were watching the game in x6 on your SKY+ remote.

You sound like a very loyal supporter! So after your team have played so well so far this season so far they have 1 off day and you don't clap them off because you think they don't deserve it? Its obvious you're a glory supporte because real ones are proud of their team when they have an off day where things haven't quite gone to plan.

I have supported Wire for 15 years, i will clap the team off if they have played well and deserve it, they didn't there was no effort at all shown against Catalan, i don't mind losing but when you lose and show hardly any effort then i will not clap, i show my support by turning up too every game they play.
So it's not obvious that I'm a glory supporter

Your wrong and as much as I dont rate clarke I'll defend him on this one. Clarke was the only one who bothered to chase Brough and when Brough stepped him NO ONE had bothered to push up with the same effort.
So as much as Clarke was at fault for chasing Brough down, everyone else was at fault for not making the same effort or at least filling the gap.

| Do we think Clarke is going to get his contract extension? Smith is certainly making him work for it (unless I have missed something).

| I don't think we were beaten in the forwards. That is an easy thing to say because of the forwards we had sat in the stand and the stereotypical idea that the dragons have a big, tough pack. The dragons defended very well out wide. They had number sliding across who made the right decisions. That combined with some passes that were off the Mark ( Hodgson catching the ball on his toes and myler catching passes that were going behind his shoulder) were the reason we were not as potent as we have been. We came across a team that had a plan of how to attempt to defend against us and we struggled with plan B. Our right edge became blunt with Bridge going off and in the second half we were going more to riley's wing but by the time the ball got there the defence had had enough time to have a quick Camembert sarnie. We did try the short ball from Carvell to myler down the middle but even that failed to come off. The wrapped up Solo in the main and I think they deserved a lot of credit.
It does concern me that a few weapons remain in the locker. Remember the kicks from Briers to the sticks for Myler to chase ( a la Wigan away last year) where have they gone. We must have scored 90% of our tries within 10m of the touchline this season so it does not take a miracle worker to work out what we are going to do.

On the subject of Clarke, he was poor at the weekend I have to agree, but I'm not yet of the belief that he is any worse than Higham. He seems to escape a lot of criticism but is so ineffective when he's on the field it's untrue, this becomes all the more noticeable on occasions like Sunday when Catalans are allowed slow the ptb down and 'win the floor', he just has no other idea than that scamper.
You find your eyes wandering over to the dugout constantly almost pleading for Monas to come with this left hand gripped around a square carrying the number 9 or 10.

| I don't buy this argument that our pack was well beaten today. We were making 50/60 yards per set, they were making 30/40. They broke our line about five times and scored 4 tries. We broke them about ten times and scored 4. We lost on goal kicking which is interesting as I thought the received wisdom was that we'd not do that with Hodgson in the team. So, in effect that loss vs Catalans was just the same as the loss at home to St Helens last year. Hmm.
No one criticised Clarke in previous weeks when we were winning.
