| Sometimes people are labelled a 'one trick player' but sometimes is that really a bad thing ?
Imagine if Briers only one trick was organising the team, Morleys was running in hard making good yards the wingers was scoring tries, the centres only trick drawing in men and offloading to the wingers, Monas was making 15 to 20 yards at dummy half through disorganised defence, Mylers was being in the right place at the right time.
Now i'm not saying the above guys are one trick players but sometimes having only one trick is all they need.
Henry Fa' afili is the best example, he truely was a one trick pony for me but that one trick was scoring tries, was that a bad thing ?

| Myler has had 1 season with us, i'd rather he takes time to mature into a superb all-rounded player rather than a flash in the pan! I hope he stays and I think he'll go from strength to strength in the Primrose and Blue If he doesn't i'll take Soward or Marshall as a replacement

| Quote: TF and the wire "Can't believe that people are slagging him off. He's a young lad, surrounded by more experienced players. He is bound to be subdued. As he gets older and some of the olders ones leave, such as Briers, I'm sure he will step up.
He's a cracking player and like all others, has strengths and weaknesses.
Only fear for me is that he is a Widnesian and we have found with others, they might wear our shirt but the black and white one isn't far underneath. When they finally do get back in SL, I expect them to be muttering in his ear, especially if he still isn't holding a regular spot.'"
I don't think they would want him back after renaging on a verbal contract and then signing for Salford.

| Myler is a young lad with loads of potential (of which he's shown flashes this year) - that's why Smith signed him.
He'll develop well under Smith providing he keeps working hard and developing his rugby brain.
Have no time for the views of people who say 'get rid' and such like.

Henry could score from a lot further out than 10metres, come on Rouge given the choice you'd rather have Henry than Karl at their peaks.

It's a pity that the team are off at the moment as we could see Myler training or around town. can't imagine this to be true unless we have some replacement of quality in line. For me Michael Monaghan should not be thought of as a full term 7. He is the best hooker we have.'"
I saw him in wolf ware last week and he seemed full of laughs with JC and i think Mitchell. He was with all his relatives (ithink) buying wolves shirts for christmas. : ) i gave him stick about being mr December and he seemed okay.
but don't take that as anything substantial.
I hope he stays. He could be a big achievement. Our Scully or Farrell. A true great of the game that we made.

It is a matter of risk reward.
I know there are JC bashers out there but his pass is superb and i think his defence is top notch. He is a text book hooker. He really has the brain for it. Monas i need not talk about, he is that good and we all know it. I think Mick Higham is the third best hooker we have and i feel we are keeping him for his one trick. Additionally, i get the feeling he is a little bit error prone. Causes penalties and those two unnecessary knock ons at Wembley drove me crazy. The only plus i can think of is the Hudders match in the playoffs. But, that was like entering the twilight zone. We shouldn't have lost that and no one was playing anywhere near like they could.
His trick, though, isn't as lethal as KFC or even KP (wigan) IMO.

I was just having a bit of fun with you after your comment about Pryce. I still think Pryce is a far better player than many (even Wigan fans) give him credit for, just watch the try he created for Carmont at Huddersfield as an example.
I do think however that this will be his last chance at Wigan, as he has the likes of Charnley, Marsh, King and Russell pushing him for first team rugby.
Pryce has missed the best part of three years with that injury and I guess you never know what it has done to his confidence, but I don't think that many teams have a player of his ability that far down the squad listing, which shows Wigan strength in depth.

Must say I'm glad I waited before commenting as seen most of you bunch have seen sense and most of my points on Myler have been covered. You have a potentially great player tied down long term for you. Myler has what 10-15 seasons left in him so to judge on one seems a tad daft. Give him time and importantly support and he could easily become your sides focal point for the next decade.
Saw this interview Richie did with John Stankevitch (his former academy coach also) which is worth a read... www.loverugbyleague.com/feature_ ... myler.html

I agree that Karl Pryce is a good young player. With his size he has the potential to do some real damage to defences. Lost his way a bit while out of RL but if the Pies coaching team can't turn him around then no-one will.
