| As a goal kicking winger he is always going to be right at the top of the points scoring charts.... are there any other wingers playing week in week out that kick goals?
being the leading points scorer doesn't make you the best winger... it makes you a goal kicking winger.

Here's Pat's recent form...
2005 Australian GF winner scoring 1 try in the final
2007 - Super leagues leading point scorer
2008 - Super Leagues leading point scorer
2009 - Super Leagues leading points scorer
2010 - Super Leagues leading points, try and goals scorer. Man of Steel Winner, RL Writers Player of the Year. Super League GF winner, 2010 Dream Team entry.
And just to top it off....has just been named International Winger of the Year.
Now, he may not be the most exciting winger winger in the world but with stats like above Im sure any team in the world would have Pat playing for them and I wouldn't swap him for any other winger in the world.
As a side note, Well done to Morley, who I think is well deserving his Prop of the year award......
even though he does play for Warrington
all of that is irrelevant, as its just an award based on this year is it not?
noone is denying pat is a great player, but if he didnt kick goals, you wouldnt all bum love him so much, prime example of this is darrel goulding, scored around the same number of tries, in less games(i think), yet doesnt kick, so isnt seen as a lynchpin to your team!

If Ryan Hall, Ade Gardner or Henry Fa'afili kicked goals they would have been top of the points scoring list in those years - doesn't make them the best wingers in the world, it just means scoring tries in SL is easy.
He scored a try in the Grand Final (there are LOTS of players who've done that) but never got a sniff of rep honours in the NRL (not even City/Country) and is only over here because that is the case - the best players don't move to Super League if they can play rep rugby.
He's a good winger, but he's nowhere near the world's best.

| It is honestly hard to see beyond Richards. I think we should probably bow to the knowledge of the RLIF in this one...

| Not many can finish better than Chris Hicks, some of those Tries he squeezed in last season were the best i have ever seen. I'm sorry but its not all about the ones with pace who go 90 yards when clear 99% of wingers would never have caught that ball at Wembley and scored or scored the one at Odsal in the QF.

| I can't believe an argument is actually being put forward for Pat Richards being the "world's best winger". If Inglis decied to play on the wing he'd be the world's best as would Jarrod Hayne. If there was half a chance of a try with little room to spare, the only player in superleague I would want it Chris Hicks.

Surely shows that form is temporary but class is permenant. I don't watch NRL but Pat is far and away the best winger in SL.
