| I have got a lot of time for Brian Noble.
The way he has conducted himself throughout the whole saga has been exemplorary. The worst kept secret this season ( other than the Richie Myler one ) has been the fact that Nobles contract was not going to be renewed but he has still gone about his business in a thoroughly professional manner.
Must have been very difficult for him at Wigan for the past few months. If he doesnt get the Celtic gig then there will be a few coaches looking nervously over their shoulders in they lose a couple of matches early next season ... Richard Agar may be concerned already

| I was in the keep Noble camp.
But I can understand the reason for him going.
John Monie always said that a coach should never stay more than 5 years.
I would have given Noble one more year, but would that have been acceptable to him?
Would we (Wigan) have been in the same position next year. The man at the top had a very difficult decision to make.
Mediocrity is not an option at Wigan.

Trouble is you have no divine right to win either. Wigan have had a decent season this year in my opinion (as I predicted). I don't think Noble was the cause of your problems.

| It's probably time to move on.
People say Wigan have an average squad of players, but who signs these players?
If the bloke from the storm does come he's got a good reputation for his technical knowledge, and has worked with the best coach in the game for a fe years. Gve him a good support team I don't think he'll fail, plus he'll bring a few new ideas to a Wigan team that's imo gone a bit stale

Sounds like a job reference for Steve Anderson.

I agree, for me they've had a good, solid season.
Flipside of this would be, on the two big occasions, the two 'semi finals', they've come up short which to be fair, is where it counts. We look at Che, his two big games to date for us, Wigan in the semi, Hudds at Wembley he outcoached his opposite number tactically and we go on to lift a cup. It's fine margins nowadays, maybe Leneghan just feels that he's not quite upto it, against the best minds in the business.
I'm sure Noble would suggest he's done the best he can, perhaps overachieved with a pretty mediocre squad.

I'm sure you are right but Noble has the best track record of winning major honours, as a coach, in the SL era. Maybe he's lost his mojo.

Or maybe there's a difference between coaching Bradford 2001-05 and the Wigan team he inherited in 2006.
Tony Smith lost his mojo in the last World Cup.
