| The atmosphere will improve with no drumming, although full credit to the drummers who've banged themselves silly over the past few years.

Well said and I agree 100%.
The only thing that irritates me more than the drums is tedious music played after we score. Okay so Tom Hark had a bit of novelty value when we first started playing it around 1997ish but it's been long since time to move on and in my opinion just stop it completely.
If you want a REAL atmosphere then show some passion and sing your heart out. Clapping along like performing seals does not an atmosphere make.

i dont agree, every other club has there music played after they score. if nothing was played then all the boring people in the crowd would clap and say well done, the music is played to get everyone on there feet cheering the lads on.
i say keep tom hark

| I think the drummers should be given free season tickets as they are part of the matchday and should be supported by the club it should include free away tickets and travel ,they add to the atmosphere on matchdays more than the cheerleaders, and bring together the crwd chanting rather than the fragmented chanting we had at wembley !

| How would people feel about someone else taking up the role? I've got a drum from my days of following lower league football, (booo) but since I was converted to rugby league (20 years ago) its been sat in the garage, i've got a drum and my mate has his trumpet. would this annoy too many people?

| Quote: Geordie "Thats me done, I know it has been said before but that was it, the last time I will be seen with a drum at the game.
Todays game saw the end of 10 seasons of me playing it and I know the time for me to move on is right. I am finding it a chore now and as they say when you no longer enjoy something its time to pack in.
I have had an absolute ball, met some wiered and wonderful people and sigining off today just iced it, instead of Lee Briers kissing his badge he was able to lift the Challenge cup instead.
Thanks for the comments, I am now going to quietly slip into the background though you will still no doubt here my dulset tones next season.
Cheers'"

Blimey, there's a name from the past. He's been dead about 18 years!

didn't bradford once create an "artificial" atmosphere by playing the sound of their crowd over the top of the real crowd through the PA in an attempt to intimidate brisbane/australia (someone) and ended up beating them?

Not just once, in the late 80's / early 90's the chant of "Northern, Northern" could reguarly be heard over the Odsal tannoy system.
it was quite common in some grounds. IIRC Hull FC ended up in trouble because they'd recorded crowd chanting from their own fans and didn't realise one of the chants was a racist one aimed towards an opposing player.

That would be great, IMO i think the drumming really inproves the atmosphere and without at points in the game there would be little atmosphere. i also think it makes it more entertaining with the drum.
Its a shame to hear you giving it up as well,
And to answer your question lowes out yes, you should bring your drum, and hope there will be more drums next season
