| I remember McGinty looking like a real journeyman for Wire, but he went to Wigan, won trophies, and became something of a GB regular.
Keith Holden - he looked brilliant in his all too brief spell with us.

| Quote: mark_m "Wrong that Fieldhouse, Case and Potter are not in the Gleeson/ Gregory class? Don't think so. And those mentioned were all at least twelve years ago or more.
You seem to forget that they won 'everything' because they were the only full time team at that time.
Selling Gleeson will not bite us in the backside. This could be the start of players at the club being professional, treating the club with respect and being a TEAM for the first time in living memory.'"
thats not what i said, i said players we sell come back and bite us on the bum, i did not compare like for like, and gregory won more with wigan than with us, hence it bit us on the bum.. admit your wrong, stop moving the goal posts.... your wrong!

| I think McGinty was a journeyman at Wigan but in a much better team and was once dropped by Dorahy in 1994 for best part of half a year. Although he has of course got a World Club Champions medal.
Difficult to compare anything pre SL as no other team was full time. I might be wrong but is Gleeson the first player to go from Warrington to Wigan during the SL era? I can recall Martin Dermott coming back the other way.

| whats time got to do with any thing you asked for examples, cos you could not think of any yourself, highlighting your poor historical knowledge,
they won major trophies with wigan 12 years ago
so therfore were better than gleeson... star team rather than players!

None of the above players won trophies with Wigan in 1997. Check your own poor historical knowledge.
And I still stand by the fact that those are not in the Gregory/ Gleeson class.

| Is/was Glees really a 'sulker' and 'not commited' or is he just a really laid back and easy going bloke?
He looked quite commited when he went 90 metres against Bratfurt last season.

| You typed;
"they won major trophies with wigan 12 years ago".
Which is incorrect. I suspect the last one mentioned to win anything was McGinty in 1994. And I dare say they did improve at Wigan because they were full time players whilst at Warrington they were not. But since SL...nothing.
Therefore, I don't believe Gleeson will suddenly become a superstar again at Wigan. They are no different than us in 2009 and I cannot think of a single valid reason why he would.
And I dare say I hardly missed any matches in 1997 if any at all. Do I get a badge or something?

you picked me up on one point, fair enough, but it was you that brought up the twelve years, when the players i mentioned played for wigan they had more sucess than when they played for us, the rest is your poor arguements, you did miss at least 3 matches in 97, as i know every fan who went on the wcc by name!
so no badge for you!
and we'll see about gleeson only time will tell/ history writes itself and all that
my opinion, just as your entitled to yours
but the point i first made was he will come to bite us on the bum...so lets see shall we?
who brought superleague up?
stop moving the goal posts to suit your arguement

Fair enough. Although all the players mentioned are all a long time ago and there has been nothing of note since the full-time SL era.
You seem to forget that Wigan aren't famous anymore!
