Clark was close, he was amazing.

Outstanding performances across the park though. Ratch, Hill, Russell, Jullien, Evans.. Actually all of them.

Jullien and evans were both brilliant.... evans ran about 20m in the first half with a thug strapped to his face.. got up to play the ball and had blood pouring from his nose.... then ran the next ball in like a prop. thats what you want to see from your men.

Clark, penny and Gidley were absolutely superb. Jullien was very good and that was possibly ratchfords best game for us his kicking game was brilliant but then again we actually completed sets and put the ball in his hands. Not a bad player tonight, Wigan struggled with the conditions and injuries I expect better from them later on in the season.

To be honest no one had a bad game.
Evans is a real tough cookie and was dangerous after taking those hits.
The penny / Russell interchange worked well and I thought the goons would capitalise on that following last week.
Clark put in some real hard work and made massive hits.
Julien was very impressive for a 20 year old. Chuffed for him.
Good time to have a rest for some.

Best performance in a Wires shirt so far for Clarke.......but Gidley still Shaded it for me....

just too good.......

also a special mention to Kevin Penny who took a lot of heat off Matty Russell today.

and one more ....Benjamin Jullien because I like it when he puts in those crowd pleasers on bigger blokes....

Has anyone ever taken fewer minutes to become a wire crowd pleaser than Jullien? He's got loads of raw talent to work with, a real appetite for a defensive hit and any work he can get involved with in attack, thoroughly deserved his try and you can see what the lads think of him with the mad try celebrations. He's got a long way to go but has all the tools.

I think julien is my new hero. He's taken over from Cox.

THIS Kurt gidley is miles better than the one against the giants

Im a huge Jullien fan.... the guy is fearless and seems to be made of brick.

yes, we need to see more from him going forward, but i just LOVE watching people run at him... he ruins them.

Jullien gets a big name check by the legend Super Bennie Westwood after the game. Enough said.

But the only reason Sir Kurt Gidley was not SL player of the month so far was because of Sandow. Imagine what it is going to be like when they are both fit and in the pitch together.

Agree with the Gidley mom award.
Special mentions go to Ratchford and Evans however their job was made easier by the work the pack did - outstanding from 8 to 32 (as Eddie would say - just look at the numbers on the shirts...).
What was the penalty count? Thought Bentham kept them in it for a bit in the second half but some odd calls in the first against both teams.

I thought Gidley was MOM to be honest. Hilly is club captain, but if you ignore the play and just watch Gidley, he is pulling absolutely all the strings. He calls the plays, he sets the players, he is the dynamo close to the line, his tackling is absolutely top class and his kicking is brilliant. It was his tackle that sent Tony Clubb off to the changing rooms. He is the little general.

Yes, I am a really big fan of Jullien. I am going to start wearing onions around my neck and holidaying in Carcassonne. I will probably buy the Allo, Allo box set as well. What I want to know is how he manages to tackle. He had only been on the pitch for 5 minutes when some poor sod ran at him with the ball and just stopped dead (I saw this a couple of weeks ago as well). How does that happen ? The laws of physics must surely mean that the attacker is going to gain another two yards or so because of his momentum. But no, they just stop dead as though they have hit a brick wall. He did cock up a kick off by Wigan, and yes his play with ball in hand has some way to develop, but he just adds so much to the team because of his defence and versatility . Sign him up for another 2-3 years before he decides he doesn't like hailstorms in April and discovers that Nandos doesn't sell escargots.
