Gidley. Hill is not a vocal, organising player, just does his job quietly. Plus he is not on the field all the time.

Gidley has to be captain. If you watch the video when he is miked up he never stops talking/encouraging.

There is no one currently at the Club that screams Captain.
I know very little about Gidley but he was extremely well thought of at his old club so perhaps he should take it.

For me Sims as to be considered, after the Leigh game were he was mic 'd up he was very vocal.

Surely Sims just in after Gidley? Our most vocal player.

Sims is too much of a hot head for Captain in my view. Of course the responsibility may curb that. Outside shout DC as vice?

This is why I originally discounted Ashton because of occasional discipline problems.
But when Moz arrived he had a similar reputation to what Ashton has but making him Captain was a masterstroke he cleaned his own act up and proved to be a fantastic leader for our team.

Is it effective to import a stranger as captain though?

'stranger' he may be, but the bloke is a born leader.

I would think we will leave it as late as possible to decide. Give em time to bond etc pre season

I have got to agree with this, the captain has to have a reputation that commands instant respect, in a way that anyone that has to explain their POV and include "well I'm the captain so blah e blah" probably shouldn't be the captain.

We need another Morley figure and I don't mean a prop (go on then that would be nice), but, someone who needs no explanation.

I don't know who should be captain, but I don't think it should be Hill. He is the backbone of our squad and, as others have said, he just does it quietly. Keep him doing what he does and don't put any more pressure on him.

Whether Gidley is given the official title of captain or not, he will be the one leading the team around the park.
