I was sat in work feeling nauseous this afternoon as the chaps from London discussed 'rugger'. The company I work for heavily sponsor rugby union and cricket, which got me thinking. With childish cr@p like this, is it any wonder blue chip companies don't want their brand to be associated with RL?

Wigan have the right idea, engaging with businesses in the capital through networking meetings and the annual Skolars game in the city, the RFL does some very good marketing too. However they are let down by shoddy work like this, which simply re-enforces the Eddie Wearing stereotype.

Blue chip sponsors like Emirates? Are they going to jump ship because of a gimmicky thing like this? It seems the club can't win on here sometimes. I and others have been critical of the clubs' efforts to promote games in the past (it has often been non-existant) and it looks like they've actually gone to some effort and spent a fair bit of money on this shoot. Isn't that what we all thought they should do? And yet they still get flack. Whether you think it's tacky or not it's going to make more headlines than them sending out a press release saying: "Erm, yeah, we're going to play Wigan on Friday but our season's pretty much over so it's not really that interesting".
