| I agree. Nothing wrong with the tackle. Just an unfortunate (for Matty) collision.

Well if he said and you said it, that must be a red. Don't be silly, it was a perfectly good tackle.

| If you lot haven't watched the game on Sky then you can be forgiven for thinking it was a good hit, but watch the other angle from after the game, his shoulder connects with Russell's face quite clearly. If you have seen this and still think It was a legitimate tackle then you're idiots.

| The new law states any contact with the head from the opponents shoulder is illegal and within the laws set out by the RFL is a red card. Whether it was intentional or not whether Russell lost control of the ball - shoulder to head = red card - the same way as a spear tackle is a straight red. Rules are rules

I believe you are correct, any contact with the head is a penalty accidental or otherwise and if it's the shoulder that hits the head then it's a red card, accidental or otherwise.
This was the same as the Cahill tackle on Hodgson, accidental but still a shoulder to the head therefore a red card.
Having said that I didn't think there was contact to the head until I saw the zoomed in replay from behind Magraff and it was a definite shoulder to the face as Russell stooped to regain the ball.

| leulei looked as tho he intended wiping Matt Russell out however Matt was dropping as he tried to recover the spilled ball.
He did look as though he could've regathered the ball until the said challenge/tackle which to me was after he'd lost it so should've gone down as an off the ball challenge

| Let's just get this straight. Those of you saying that there was nothing illegal with the incident are wrong. The laws of the game state that any contact by the shoulder with the head is a red card. They further state that the tackling player has a duty of care to the player he is tackling. Straight red.

| Imo Matty had little to no chance of recovering the ball, it was heading to a body Knock on on LL. Matty forfeited his own safety by attempting too re gather.
His body was not braced for a tackle, and may have took the hit something like a blind spot road traffic accident.?

| Totally agree with you Rubber Duckie however it doesn't change the fact that contact to the head was made with the shoulder meaning a red card
